Mod note: Calls for violence will result in suspensions
Michael Schiavo has filed a petition with the Supreme Court asking them to stay out of the case.
Well, as one of my neighbors said..."I'm making sure my wishes are in writing. I did my best in raising our five kids, but just in case one of them wants our money and property more than they want my wife and me, I want it in writing that we don't want life support cut off!"
When the judiciary can have a disabled American put to death for no crime other than being unable to communicate clearly, we no longer have a Constitutional Republic. When the judiciary rules 'unconstitutional' any attempt to save that disabled American from starvation, then we no longer have representative government.
When we were Colonies, judges appointed by the British Crown did the same damned thing our judicial system just did. It was perfectly 'lawful' then, just like it is perfectly 'lawful' now. Slavery was 'lawful' then. Doesn't make it right, does it?
Don't tell me that this is right. The Third Reich did the same thing to the disabled. The law is an ass, and this proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. These black robed thugs are guilty of murdering a brain-damaged woman. And you defend them. The Founders would have run you out of town on the same rail as these murderers. Think on that.
I felt the same way about Lexington and Concord. Freakin' malcontents!
So if 7 years after the fact, and you've won a million+ dollars you all of a sudden remember, "Oh ya, my wife said she wouldn't like to live like this."
I can see why you would be so passionate about your above statement.
EXCELLEANT WAY TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER.
Done
"Say we have it in writing regarding our wishes. Any spouse could lose that piece of paper, the hospice could lose it or change the records.
"
Two solutions: File the papers with your attorney. You can also record them at your county recorder's office. That may be called something else in your area, but you can record legal documents with your county or parish (LA).
See your attorney for more information regarding living wills. Do get it right, to prevent your wishes from being ignored.
Maybe it's time for you to move to Iran so you can see just how lucky we are here.
Oh, and thanks for wishing for the deaths of millions of people. You've really shown your compassionate side.
He based his judgement on hearsay .. which normally in a court of law is not allowed
But yet he decides to listen to MS and not others like her friend because the Judge SCREWED UP THE DATES!
I am wondering if Gov. Bush is just waitinng for Greer to rule this last time and then make his move.
As we watch (and pray) the drama that has unfolded.....the brain-damaged young woman...the husband wanting that young woman dead so that he can add some status to his live in lover.....the parents wanting the young woman to live...hoping against all hope that some miracle will happen and their daughter will be made whole.
And at the bottom of the whole mess is a very simple problem , a very simple question, that each of us must face....and that the Nation as a whole must look at and , finally...please finally, deal with.
Do we value life????
Part of the body of Christianity is that each of us is important...that each of us is a child of God..and as such is to be valued . And if we follow the spirit of Christianity....it wouldn't even be a question of wether or not Terry Schiavo would live because it would be automatic that we would do everything to help her keep life...even with just the remotest chance of her returning to her normal self.
But we have lost that edge...because it is simpler...easier...to buy into the rabid nonsense that 'Quality of Life' is more important than life. Because , in this Nation and indeed the world, it is simpler..and far easier to NOT look at just what is life...and where it comes from.
Which is just how the Liberals want it.
Because if we look at how important life is (and how important Terry Schiavo's life is) and we start a National Dialog on the subject...we would have to actually have to look at abortion...and the taking of life...the murder of the unborn.
And that is something that Liberals (and most Americans for that matter) don't really want to discuss.
So....a young woman in Florida will have to die.
All for the sake of not shaking the 'status quo'.
All for the sake of not actually looking into our souls...and the soul of this Nation...and coming to grips with the idea that all life is precious and must not be squandered.
..and the one thing that Liberals fear...(hear them quaking in their loafers??) that a re-evaluating of where we are...and where we are headed (life, abortion etc) would lead to a re-discovering of exactly where that life comes from.
God.
That is false. The decision is the patient's alone. If the decisions could be left to Michale, he could have stopped feeding Terri 10 years ago. He didn't, because he needed court imprimatur for the proposition that Terri's wishes were/would be to commit suicide by starvation.
"If it were possible for the Executive to simply override a judicial decision, then we would have a government similar to Sadam Hussein's Iraq."
Yes, and this is a point being conveniently ignored by the "save Terri at any cost" crowd. I can't believe I'm hearing so many people who are willing to throw away our entire system over this one person.
After this is ended, it will be time to address the questions through legislation.
You got that right. Everytime I saw him on TV he came off as an unhinged kook. On the other hand, Sekulow, also a pro-life activist lawyer came across as rationale and did a much better job public relations wise. Randall Terry just ginned up anger among the troops while turning off those who werent already for Terri.
We should work on getting laws enacted making damned sure that no one can ever again be legally denied food and water.
I completely agree. I do not think food and water should be denied anyone as long as they are living. We can still decide to remove loved ones from life support (respirators), but for G-d's sake, this removal of a feeding tube and slowly dehyrating someone to death is barbaric.
We must change these laws.
Jeb looks like he ain't doing a thing.....
It has already been done, and is done more than we know. One of the most infamous cases was Baby Doe of Bloomington, Indiana, an otherwise healthy Down Sydrome baby who needed a simple, routine operation to clear a congenital blockage in his digestive tract. His parents refused because they considered him "defective". He was starved to death with judicial sanction in 1982.
Cordially,
Reichskanzler Greer
It gives him a bit too much (for those of you not up on your German, that literally translates to "Realm chancellor"), but apt for SCOTUS.
