US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)
Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro
This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.

27 to go for a quorum. Already passed the 2/3 number needed for it to pass.

It's also a right to self-determination.
You can debate whether or not she really wanted this, but that is the only question that counts.
Years ago, after Cruzan, the US Supreme Court gave states the specific right to decide whether or not to use clear and convincing oral statements as though they were written out living wills.
Florida decided to allow just that. That is why we are here. Not because they don't think she has a right to live, but because she has a right to resist medical treatment, including feeding tubes.

Thanks I couldn't remember her name. Was she not the most stupid person, male or female, to grace God's green earth?

You'd think he could speak clearly since he's surely had practice speaking with foreign objects in his mouth.

Yay! I feel better knowing they're getting her out of that place and into a hospital where some new eyes are going to be watching out for her.

Demcrat callers to c-span are totally ignorant about the structure of government.
The democrats are trying to protect the courts to overide the legislature. The mass courts rule that homo-marriage is legal and the democrats get upset when constitutional amendments are passed to shut up the judges.
Greer passes judgement based on his view of the law so the people redress grevience against greer and have the law changed. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A LEGISLATURE. The democrats are just upset they are getting exposed by fast action.

Hear, hear! Excellent observation! We're a sick country when a dog gets more consideration than a human being. Its cruelty to deprive an animal of food and water and the fine in Florida is a maximum $5,000. But Terri, according to the Democrats, doesn't even merit THAT level of minimum protection. I speak from values here my friends, and my values tell me killing an innocent human being is WRONG. The other party seems to loathe them. Good to know Jim Sensenbrenner has the right values. On an issue like this one, one ought never to be guided by feelings, since as we've witnessed from the other side, human beings are capable of rationalizing even the more loathesome behavior.

For some reason the rules must be suspended to pass this bill - therefore, 2/3 are required.
