US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)
Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro
This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).
The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they dont want to be known as the party that killed Terri.
This is American history happening before your eyes.

Drudge JUST played the tape of Terri talking to her father in labored tones.
Druge has it.

Let's have some Federal Legislation on animal cruelty, too.
Animals are not citizens of the United States, while humans are according to the Fourteenth Amendment, section 1.

In Florida, sustenance and hydration are considered extraordinary means of prolonging life. That is disgusting. So an otherwise healthy person, who cannot swallow due to whatever reason - whether it be disease, injury or physical defect - is considered to be alive only due to "extraordiary measures" simply because they need a feeding tube to eat?
SCARY.

Exactly.
The democrats mentioned that (the polls) as a reason for NOT supporting the Bill. Then later democrats commenting on the Bill claimed it was all political. Still later a democratic congressman accused Republicans of wanting it both ways. LOL!

Thank you! I was trying to remember Sarah Scantlin's name but the case I had to cite was Terry Wallis! There are cases of people recovering from coma's and PVS neither of which Terri is in. She is mentally handicapped and severely brain damaged. If she gets rehab and therapy there's no telling what she could achieve.
Thank you for remembering Sarah's name! In the heat of the moment it slipped my mind . . . (oops, I shouldn't admit my mental deficiencies too loudly . . . they'll come for me next!)

What channel are you watching? I have CNN on. They report one ambulance and not related to Terri. Amazing. " May not be enough votes, even if, nothing probably nothing will be done tonight, president asleep " etc.
To: SeaBiscuit
MSNBC: Congressman still coming in on planes, so the vote might go on a bit longer than necessary.

I think she may get the tube back!Me too! Thank God!

I'm glad you're on top of this situation. I'm working on other stuff and watching the news here in AZ, and I'm a little too angry to care about the parliamentary procedures here.

"This person suffering from hereditary defects costs the people 60,000 Reichmarks during his lifetime. People, that is your money. Read 'New People (Neues Volk)' Magazine!"
There was an opinion piece a couple of days ago by someone who made this very point. Unfortunately, they weren't condemning this poster they were agreeing with it.

"Stay out of my family!!!! " Nice soundbite, but totally irrelevant. Hmm. Does the good Congressmen consider the man and woman who raised her not to be part of her family?
To: sinkspur
Let's have some Federal Legislation on animal cruelty, too. May as well, while we're overriding state legislatures and state courts.
I was right. your real problem isn't the timing of the effort to help Terri. It's the effort itself. And of course, you know that the Constitution doesn't extend rights to animals, so Congress wouldn't have authority under the 14th amendment to legislate animal rights (as it DOES have authority under the 14th amendment to legislate for HUMAN rights -- if you don't believe that, read section 5 of the 14th amendment).
