President's Statement on Terri Schiavo
The White House ^ | 3-17-2005 | George W. Bush

Posted on 03/18/2005 3:32:37 PM PST by BobS

The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.

Ah, yes, murder as a personal problem to be resolved within the family ~ what a concept!

How about expanding that to the "neighborhood" ~

They wouldn't go in, just surround the location. U.S Marshals will go in with a piece of paper. FBI will detain those involved and investigate them. IRS will scrutinize everyone and everything.

Bush is a gentleman

Howlin, why don't you all give us your phone number and address so we can get this discussion "off" the net, eh?!

Wish I could, but hoping that elected Officials will act as my representatives in this matter.

re: murder resolved "within the family"--

You've hit something...this is an honor killing...it is necessary for Greer's honor that Terri die.

Due process takes well over 20 years for murderers. That's why they die of old age in prison.

She's not a murderer, is she? Let's try to stick to the facts of THIS case.

If they could take Elian, they sure can take Terri.

Jeb Bush, where are you? How about the National Guard?

Not "hypocritical", but "cynical".

It has to do with the poster's recognition that the individuals involved in carrying out the raid are the type who are always more interested in the action than in the justifications.

I don't know how you want us to interpret your post, but it's a creepy one. What do you mean?

If I was incapacitated somehow and my wife eventually chose to take out the feeding tube against my parents wishes, with no clear proof of my true desires or mental state, I would hope the government would investigate any actions of a Judge to end my life.

So let me get this straight. The "husband" living with another woman, with two bastards has the right to demand the execution of his legal wife. Ok good.

Definitely the IRS trick ~ these people, particularly Shiavo, will never get off that hook.

"This is a state issue, not a Federal one. Terri's husband should be the final person to decide her fate.
Congress has no business being involved with this. Just like they have no business being involved with steroids in Baseball.
Folks, we have thousands of terrorists all over the world that want to KILL every one of us. And Congress get's wrapped up on personal and sports issues??!!"
---

That is the perfect analogy. Our Congressmen are a complete bunch of pompous JOKERS. OUR MONEY is going to pay them to sit in Washington and try to fire up emotional issues while the country is drowning in regulations, lawyers, bureaucrats, and failing public schools.

This is not slavery, or a civil rights issue. This is a family disagreement and should be left to the Florida courts. I am not going to pass judgment on Michael and insult him as Tom Delay and other Conservatives have done today, or judge and insult the parents as some Liberals have done. I do know I'd want my wife fighting with all her heart for my wishes, irregardless if she or my parents agreed with them, but thats just me. In this case, I don't know the facts, so I have no opinion.

I support the right of a state to secede, but I support the right of the Federal government to intervene in cases where a state is violating the basic constitutional rights of their citizens. Therefore, I would have supported the right of the South to secede if they were not a slave society; and I know thats not why Lincoln did it, so I agree with his actions, but disagree with his reasons. (slightly different issue, but somebody brought it up)

In any case, the ridiculous behavior of our government officials, especially 'Conservatives' in recent days would not be possible without the willing, emotional, and mindless participation and acquiescence of their 'Conservative' base, which we on FR purport to represent.

If Congress allows Greer and loving husband to p** all over their subpoena, they will reap the whirlwind.

Subpeonas so vital to getting themselves on tv won't be worth the paper they're written on. Everyone will flip them off in the future - the baseball players should have anyway.

Scott Peterson will not have his food and water denied to him

He will get food and drink at least three times a day

Perhaps for 12 years or more until he is either given a painless anesthetic before a lethal injection

But then SCOTUS may decide it is "cruel and unusual" to execute Scott Peterson

They will not strap him down and let him starve and dehydrate for 2 weeks until he is dead

That would be "cruel and unusual punishment" according the Constitutional Amendment and liberal judges and the ACLU and Boxer, Levin, and Wyden

Will they cut off food and liquids to the pedophile killer of Jessica in Florida?

What do you think America?
