The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.
Dear Lord above. You and I are on the same side. Next thing you know, Dane and I will be agreeing.
Do you know if a Congressional subpoena was ever issued?
Supposedly it was sometime in the early afternoon. Of course, I read that here on FR, so I'm not sure of the accuracy.
He didn't say. Maybe googling will turn up something on the powers of the Presidency wrt federal marshalls.
lol. I can't find anything definitive on it.
MR: I don't think the State of Florida is authorized to starve and dehydrate an innocent person to death. Am I wrong?
We don't know who should do what. Meanwhile, an innocent, cognizant, nonterminal woman's life slowly drains away.
Someone must act at the state or federal level. If a private citizen acts, it will be illegal. A backwater judge in a FLA district court cannot have authority over the elected United States Congress... can he?
If Terri dies this time, we get a legal precedent - one over which many have been salivating. Who's their next victim? Which group will be targeted next?
What a crappy thing to say about a good man like President Bush.
Too many moral morons want to hide behind the "states' rights" banner.
Guess you missed it. Our business is his business and if isn't then it won't work.
[All nine members of the Supreme Court ruled that she had received due process.]
And they are ALWAYS right...like using European case law to determine the constitutionality of the death penalty for minors tried as adults n his country? Is the Shiavo case yet another instance of aligning our "collective thinking" with the Europeans??? What next...

President Bush gets to take food in and have some liquids tonight while Terri is murdered right here in Nazi Amerikkka.
Aha. Have been googling:
"Today, the Marshals Service is responsible for providing protection for the federal judiciary, transporting federal prisoners, **protecting endangered federal witnesses** and managing assets seized from criminal enterprises."

So do you, should we string you up, too?
With moral midgets as cultural and political elites, the sewer will be unleashed, you can make bank on it.
