Dear Lord above. You and I are on the same side. Next thing you know, Dane and I will be agreeing.

Do you know if a Congressional subpoena was ever issued?

Supposedly it was sometime in the early afternoon. Of course, I read that here on FR, so I'm not sure of the accuracy.

To: Howlin

For some reason the guy with the gun reminds of of this character:

CL:
I could be wrong, but I don't believe that the POTUS is authorized to call out the National Guard in this situation. I'd like for him to stay within his powers. Am I wrong? MR: I don't think the State of Florida is authorized to starve and dehydrate an innocent person to death. Am I wrong?
We don't know who should do what. Meanwhile, an innocent, cognizant, nonterminal woman's life slowly drains away.
Someone must act at the state or federal level. If a private citizen acts, it will be illegal. A backwater judge in a FLA district court cannot have authority over the elected United States Congress... can he?
If Terri dies this time, we get a legal precedent - one over which many have been salivating. Who's their next victim? Which group will be targeted next?

I completely agree that we need to have principles. And stick to them. I suspect we would disagree as to which principle here is the most important.
That bears repeating, as honorable people can come to different conclusions based upon the principles which guide them. If the current laws somehow allow a spouse to make hearsay cases for death then I have a really big problem with that, as I think the unalienable right to life trumps any rights of any others.

In this case, I don't know the facts, so I have no opinion.
So why are you giving us one? Get your facts straight before you give all this "states rights" crap. This is exactly what you are doing while telling us this is not a states' rights issue.
Incidentally, when the states agreed to form a union, they gave up the right to secede, just as you or I agree to surrender most of our sovereignty when we form a social contract. States that secede from the union take the law into their own hands and are guilty of rebellion, just as individuals who take the law into their own hands are outlaws.
Anarchists and libertarians must be out in force tonight.

It's only 1 vegetable, why should I get involved. I have bigger and more important things to do than to look to the welfare of just one personWhat a crappy thing to say about a good man like President Bush.

Too many moral morons want to hide behind the "states' rights" banner.

Mr. President, how 'bout you work on ridding our nation of socialism and defending our nation from terrorists instead of taking time to meddle in the business of Floridians. Guess you missed it. Our business is his business and if isn't then it won't work.

[All nine members of the Supreme Court ruled that she had received due process.]
And they are ALWAYS right...like using European case law to determine the constitutionality of the death penalty for minors tried as adults n his country? Is the Shiavo case yet another instance of aligning our "collective thinking" with the Europeans??? What next...
