"her external body"

Are you a Scientologist?

This is their terminology for the human body. They consider it an "external shell".

Just wondering.

Well now thanks to the congressman from Wyoming you may just get to see new recent video of Terri. You do know that her hubby hasn't allowed anyone to take any of her since those ones a few years ago, right? So busy trying to uphold her *privacy* rights, while talking on Larry King Live about her gynecology exams in a rather indiscreet manner.

Otherwise why not just divorce her, and let her parents be her guardians and take care of her?

Because he's following her wishes, perhaps?

but apparently their time should be taken up with this crap. Let the poor woman go, already.

This is not JUST about Terri - it's about tens of thousands of people who, in the future, may find themselves in the same situation some day...When people like you learn that Terri has NEVER been in a "vegetative state", is not "brain dead" is not on "life support" - etc....and very possibly could be well by now if her husband had not refused to let her have any therapy or stimulation....

well, just let's say, hope you or yours don't find yourself in the same situation one day...

"But I feel as though I'd drunk about three cups of strong coffee. I just want Terri out of that blasted "hospice" and out of her vile so-called husband's control."

Don't we all (or almost all). Michael Schiavo has been the GREATEST IMPEDIMENT to Terri's health and recovery.

Yep. Plenty of AlGores on this thread, ready to keep judge-shopping, gaming the system, pulling all sorts of legal maneuvers, obstructing, delaying, obfuscating, getting legislative intervention - all to contradict the legal process which got us here.

Apparently, judicial activism is perfectly fine as long as it's in your favor.

After all, every decision to this point has been "illegal" according to this thread, so more legal maneuvering is obviously the solution.

By definition, someone who can breathe and is not on a respirator canNOT be 'brain-dead'--with the possible exception of some 'journalists' and 'news readers'.

Yikes!!! it's been a while since I laughed so vigorously over a FReeper comment.

Caution: If you do that again there's a pretty god chance my ferocious laughter might trigger a seizure... then feeding tube insertion... merely to keep me alive !!! ;-))

more details on what's going on on the Hill ---

The House leaders indicated the Senate would join in the investigation as well.

"We've been going nonstop on this all day long," Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told the Associated Press before the House announcement, issued after midnight. "Letters are being written and sent out. We're not giving up and we're not going to give up."

"We feel that we're on comfortable ground given the federal government's interest in long-term care," Hastert spokesman Ron Bonjean told AP.

Great idea. Maybe it will buy enough time for other avenues open up to save her life. I have always wondered why her husband and Judge Greer want to murder her. It doesn't make sense.

Her Husband has stated many times in the past 15 years she did not want to live this way. This is between the husband and wife not the courts or Governor.

I wasn't criticizing you, personally, just that sometimes we have to step back and look at all sides of an issue, and with many people's input, thanks to algore inventing the net, lol, we can help each other think about things not thought of.
I discussed with my sons this issue, but as I see so many people say theyn wouldn't want to "live like that", must ask themselves what they are asking their families to do in witholding food and water from them, I know I couldn't do that myself, even if they thought they wished it.
My guiltm would be too great that maybe they were misinformed.
Sadly, I know for sure, elderly people who are encouraged to make living wills know nothing about this part of "pulling the plug" issues, they lump it all together.

Yeah that's what I think too. Let her go, then she'll never talk, then we won't have to listen to Greta cooing over her husband's attempted murder trial for the next two years after that. Whether she lives or dies is not important, what's most important is that my own personal convenience is served. We all know how much I dislike Greta.

It has been illegal from day one, but following the law is something Judge Greer likes to pick and choose on.
