I heard Tom DeLay last night on Michael Reagan's talk show, and he and others are working all this weekend to resolve the differences between the House and Senate versions of the Bill, so that when they vote on it that it will be passed into Law. They are meeting on Monday to vote on it.

Fiddling while Rome burns? Did Clinton and Reno sit around trying to 'resolve the differences' regarding Waco and Elian? That's the problem with Republicans. They try to be civilized while people die.

[US News] PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - As a severely brain-damaged Florida woman lay dying on Saturday, the husband who has long fought for her right to die assailed Republican congressmen for their last-minute attempts to keep her alive.



Michael Schiavo spoke out against the maneuvers in Washington a day after doctors followed a court order and removed the feeding tube that has kept Terri Schiavo alive for the last 15 years.

"They should be ashamed of themselves," he said in an interview with the CBS "Early Show." "Leave my wife alone. Leave me alone."



Intervening in the highly public right-to-die case, Republican congressional leaders sought in recent days to block the court order and keep the tube in place by subpoenaing Terri Schiavo to appear before hearings and committees later in the month. The move would have granted her protection as a witness in a congressional inquiry.

But the Florida state judge in the case, Circuit Judge George Greer, rebuffed the effort and said his order for the tube to be removed on Friday should go ahead.



Schiavo has been fed through a stomach tube since a heart attack starved her brain of oxygen in 1990, leaving her in what the courts declared was a permanent vegetative state. The dispute between Terri Schiavo's husband and her parents, who believe she should be kept alive, galvanized activists on all sides of the right-to-die issue.

Lying at the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida, Terri Schiavo, 41, was expected to survive for up to two weeks without the feeding tube.

Congressional lawyers appealed Greer's decision before the Florida Supreme Court, which rejected it. Later Friday, the House Committee on Government Reform made an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to have Schiavo's feeding tube reinserted, but that application was denied.

House and Senate Republican leaders vowed to work through the weekend on new legislation to keep Schiavo alive.

Terri Schiavo is concious and aware.

Her husband knows this. So does his lawyer, and so does the judge that sentenced her to death.

They're not trying to kill her because she's not concious and aware, but because she is, and an examination of her would expose years of lies.

Terri lasted seven days last time because Michael et al. didn't kill her with morphine. Don't trust them to make the same 'mistake' again.

Act immediately to get her out of Michael's custody. Any delay may be fatal.

Can you believe that any prudent and fair judge would purposely avoid seeing the subject of so many contradictory reports in person? Ever??

By the way, this judge is legally blind -- everything has to be read to him in the court, and he has made gross errors in judgement because he misread numbers, etc. and rendered inappropriate sentences.

Both the House and Senate have passed bills that would give Terri's parents the ability to bring before a federal court their claims that their daughter's starvation violates her federal constitutional and statutory rights.

Unfortunately, the bills have significant differences in content. I urge you to do whatever is necessary to resolve the differences between the two chambers and get a bill that will save Terri to the President's desk before it is too late.

Imagine your child or grandchild was stricken with a medical crisis that rendered them conscious but unable to communicate. Could you tell the doctors to let them starve to death without giving them every chance at therapy, etc. to help them?

This is what has happened to Terri. Her "guardian" has denied her the rehab and therapy that he promised when he sued for medical malpractice and won a substantial award for that purpose.
