Pittsburgh (KDKA) A deadly shooting outside Carrick High School this afternoon has put the school on lockdown.
Officials have confirmed that one student is dead and two others were wounded in the shooting around 2pm.
According to authorities, police stopped a car outside the school and were running a check on its license plate when another vehicle pulled up and started shooting at the car.
One juvenile in the car was shot in the head and killed; a second juvenile was critically injured by gunshots. A third juvenile in the car was injured by flying glass. Authorities believe all three were Carrick High School students.
Police say the shooting may have involved an AK-47.
As a precaution, students have been kept inside the building past their normal 2:17pm dismissal while police officers swarmed the area; but they're expected to be released within the hour.
More than 1300 students in ninth through twelfth grades are enrolled at Carrick High School, which is located on Parkfield Street.
I am again humbled by a freeper's technical knowledge of firearms...
They didn't teach us about 22's at Parris Island.
BTW, are they legal in NY? I'm looking for a new toy...
Besides, it doesn't matter what weapon criminals use, they will still meet their deadly targets. Even if a law-abiding citizen used a TANK to protect, they are doing their thing and peacefully.
i am from Pittsburgh originally but am having trouble placing where Carrick is, can you describe where it is to me? my college room mate is actually the principle in a Wilkinsburg H.S.
Not too familiar with the reason for the 2nd amendment, are you?
The AK-47 has committed no crime.
I love you guys...
Its in West Mifflin, Kind of near Kennywood....I grew up in Philly, and have been in the TOWN :P for 3 years.....Hope that helps....
There would be more, for we would revolt.
You should visit England sometime.
[shaking head]
A representative of President Hillary Clinton's BATF is at your door to confiscate your .22 and your 20-gauge. Do you have an answer for him?
Yeah, I know, common sense has been nearly driven out of here by spamming, hysterical, foaming at the mouth purists. Obviously I must use the constitution for toilet paper since I disagree with how broadly it be intepreted on a single issue.
Yep, sooner or later, everyone is a RINO except you. Life's a b!tch, ain't it?
oh ok, that side of the river. and yeah, of course i know about KENNYWOOD! Pittsburgh is a wonderful city, i love going back to visit. my son plays travel ice hockey and so i was there this past fall for a tournament. thanks!
Keep reading what I wrote - if it worked and all was peaceful, that would be great. But it doesn't work. Criminals don't respect gun control laws at all, it would just leave everyone else defenseless (including law-abiding citizens, police and security)
IE; The Hill District, Northside, East McKeesport, etc etc etc . .
Guess you've never been to Strawberry Mansion, or other parts of Philly . . . or any other resonably large city in ANY part of the country.
You'll find plenty here who disagree.
Take the stadiums out of Pittsburgh, and it becomes Syracuse!
:) (Needs residential downtown aka Center City)
Near Rt. 51 south.
SD
I disagree. I think there would be much MORE gun violence perpetrated by the criminals, including those wearing govt. uniforms.
I'm from Northeast Philly....around Frankford...its not as consistantly dense there as it is here, but I'll agree to disagree :)
