Her two sons are with her husband in ICU Recovery right now, her hubby told her to go home and get some sleep. He is in stable condition. Onyx thought it was a good sign that he told her to go home.
His blood pressure had dropped pretty far during surgery due to the blood loss, but the doctors got it back up to normal. She said that the doctors have stitched up everything but his biceps.
Onyx just noticed in the last hour or so that she is completely covered in blood and wondered why she had not noticed it before. She said it sort of brought to mind how Jackie Kennedy must have felt so long ago.
She mentioned that the 911 operator demanded that Onyx talk to her, while Onyx was trying to listen to her husband's instructions so that Onyx could stop or at least slow down his blood flow. His arm was nearly detached in the fall.
The 911 operator dispatched paramedics from a very distant location which meant that there was a 17 minute wait until the ambulance arrived.
Yet, there is a Fire Dept. station with paramedics located blocks from Onyx' house. While waiting and trying to stop her husband's blood loss, Onyx said her husband started losing consciousness.
Onyx said she is concerned about the blood all over the house. I suggested that she focus on getting sleep now and leaving the cleanup until later so that she can return to the hospital well rested today.
Onyx somehow held it all together from early Sunday morning and was able to save her husband's life. I asked her if she had cried yet, because while listening to her, I started getting choked up.
She said that she had been too busy trying to save her husband but thought that "maybe when things calm down," or when she "really starts thinking about what happened" she thought that maybe then she'll "fall to pieces." Somehow, I doubt very much that will happen. She's one strong lady.
Onyx said that she is very grateful to everyone for their prayers and to be sure and thank everyone.

Thank you so much...The cleanup can wait..My Dad fell and cut his head in the bathroom..far less serious and it took me forever to clean up..maybe some help will arrive...Prayers for onyx's husband, again.

The best thing I've found to remove blood on any surface is "Nature's Miracle". It's available at pet stores. It will also remove dried on blood easily.

Thank God your dear husband is going to be alright, onyx. You did a good job and remained strong and now is the time to rest and let your body handle the stress and the inevitable shock.

Looks like I'm late in the game here, but I will join in prayers for Onyx and her husband. Makes me want to take a class or something to learn how to save someone in such a situation. No docs in my house.
I just talked to onyx; things have settled down there.
He has strength in his arm and he can move his fingers; he's in his room, "out of the woods," (he said that himself!), and she is so grateful to everybody who has sent prayers for them.
She, on the other hand, sounds like she is on crack! She is jacked to the max; I suggested she walk down the hall and take a "hit" off the first thing she saw hooked up to a patient!

I'm so glad things are working out.
I did a similar thing to my left wrist at 5 years old as I put the hand through a glass door by accident.
I can relate, including how easy it was to loose lots of blood.
As a little kid they refused to give me pain medicine because of the danger with blood loss and I remember 5 nurses holding me down as they worked on me while I was in some horrific pain.
It's a horrible accident to have happen and I hope in a couple of months it is a faded memory and that the nerves in the arm and muscles all heal well.
God Bless them and this is a great example of how older windows without safety glass are very dangerous to not change out.
