Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...

The woman part bothers me.

It bothers me too.

I also think we'd be dumb not to put a strong, wise man up against shrill, hormonal Hillary - exploit the sexual difference.

I never attacked pro lifers

Ah, now, learn this: if you disagree with ONE position they have, you ARE attacking them. They've got it down to an art.

But that is not Condi's position.

On what do you base that assertion?

This is a very important issue. If you understand economics, then you understand that Social Policy drives Physical Policy. If we had not been destroying life through abortions for the past 3 decades then we would have a workforce that could support our current needs for Social Security.

Fenris6: In other words, Bush's position on abortion has had ZERO effect on the number of abortions performed. Thanks.

OO sez: Sigh...there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

It stuns me to see so many on this thread who still believe the liberal lie that the pro-abortion position is a winning one politically. It is precisely the opposite.

The difference between the parties on abortion for the part quarter century has been this:

1) The GOP is pro-life, but welcomes pro-choicers into the big tent.

2) The 'Rats are pro-abortion, and pro-lifers are welcome to go to hell (see Bob Casey Sr., 1992; Zell Miller, 2004)

3) Pro-lifers steadily emigrate to the GOP from the 'Rats beginning in '80 (the Reagan Democrats, remember?), resulting in the GOP winning 5 of the next 7 presidential elections and turn solid House, Senate and Gubernatorial minorities into solid majorities across the board.

4) As a result of all this, people like Fenris6 (and, to be fair, several others on this thread) feel the right move for the GOP in 2008 is to kick the pro-lifers to the curb with a pro-abortion candidate.

Absolutely stunning...

No, we do not; she will never be perceived as as right wing as Bush is perceived outside this forum; I say she'll pick up a lot of moderates, even Democrats who don't like what the DNC has become.

I am rambling but I think the conservative wing of the republican party could be made marginal by the party moving to the middle and picking up conservative dems.

Reagan did that. My state's known for Reagan democrats.

However, the conservative dems for the most part are pro-life and pro-gun. They are liberal on "big business" issues. Populists.

And with manufacturing jobs moving outside the state, both parties need to address plans for that.

Cool your jets people, this was a very carefully worded statement that is designed for maximum flexibility, in the best tradition of politics. She is running that is the big news and I will be voting for her.

Watch as her positions begin to harden to the right. You heard it here first.

Please give a link for that.

"Evangelical Voters: 23% (27.1 million) of all votes cast were by evangelicals. Bush received 78% (21.2 million) of those evangelical votes, representing an amazing 35% of his total of 60.5 million votes. (In 2000, evangelicals cast 15 million votes (15% of the total) and Bush received 71 percent of those votes, representing 21 percent of his 50.5 million total votes.) "

You would rather have Hillary Clinton as president of the USA?

Yes, they would.

You've been here long enough to know that.

That must mean that you didn't vote for Bush. You "sat that one out". So tell me again....why do the Republicans need you to win?

I not only voted for him, I organized a nationwide network of volunteers to work for him. Twice.

You're really striking out in the dark here, eddie.

This obsession with the mother's-life-in-risk scenario is unfounded. The great majority of children are not aborted for this reason, and for those that are, I'm sure there were alternatives that could have saved the mother without killing the child. The abortion debate shouldn't be centered on this.
