Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...

I'm well aware of the President's position on abortion.

Every active pro-lifer has known that for years.

What gives you the idea that I didn't?

That must mean that you didn't vote for Bush.
You "sat that one out".

So tell me again....why do the Republicans need you to win?

I hope that Condi clarifies her position to satisfy we who are concerned about abortion in this county. I would love to vote for her. But, if Condi favors unrestricted abortion, then I wonder if she is wrong on other essential moral issues. Abortion painfully kills an innocent human being. Check it out: http://www.cbrinfo.org/

But you absolutists have said you could NEVER vote for someone who is pro choice for ANY reason. And yet, Bush won and he makes three exceptions.

And I believe there was an article about Condi some time ago talking about the three exception rule as well.

It's you who is throwing crap into the air to see what lands on Condi.

Like I've said earlier, Bush's views to me sound like he is pro-life with some pretty rare exceptions. If Condi has those same views then she shouldn't be saying she is "mildly pro-choice".

One would think mildy would have the same meaning as rare exceptions

So if Cond used the words rare exceptions .. we wouldn't all be having this heated debate?

"The abortion issue is important to me too, but I am more interested in whether Condi can kick ass and continue the Bush doctrine. I would rather have a "pro-choice" Condi than a "pro-life" McCain who always seems to grandstand and triangulate against conservatives on all other issues to show off for the media."

Nicely stated, thank you.

Abortion is one choice of several. If you don't want one, don't have one. All 3rd trimester abortions are wrong because the baby (and yes, it's always a baby) is viable outside the womb.

I have already been called a racist for being against illegal immigration.

HA! Then I must run the local branch of the KKK.

I haven't said it's similar. I've said it's the same. Get a grip and try a little reading comprehension.

My mother was slowly dying because the baby inside her was dying. She had a 104 degree fever and nearly died. Her womb was scarred forever. Abortion was not an option in 1958. I have no siblings because of that. My father had to sit by her bedside and watch his wife almost die, then see a dead, green baby, then bury his only son by himself because she was hospitalized for weeks afterward. The resulting depression in both of them blackened our family for decades.

Unless you have been there, don't call my ideas moronic or trash. Try praying for me and the rest of us who can't get past the shades of gray here.

>>Did you vote for President Bush? Condi's views mirror his.

>No they don't.

Please enumerate how they differ.

Gov. Bush supports the following principles concerning abortion:
--Should be legal only in cases of incest, rape, or when the life of the woman is endangered
--Should be limited by waiting periods and parental notification requirements
--Prohibit partial-birth abortion.

"She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... "

That doesn't sound like the three exceptions rule to me.

Has she pushed for a CA with those three exceptions?

If I'm missing where she parrots W's stand precisely please link me. I do not consider W pro-abortion. i wish he were doing more but so far his domestic stuff seems to be spinning this term...except the tort reform which he greased thry fairly easy. (rape, incest, mother's life or death to be more precise...that clause is easily abused)

Every interview I've seen says she is "reluctantly pro-choice".

I have known two women who have had a similar experience, pamom. The men on this thread don't know what they are talking about.

They would be just as happy to let the woman AND the baby die.

OK, then murdering slime don't need prayer. They and their friends, apologists and camp followers are on a one way trip into outer darkness anyway.

Forget about them!

It's been true for @ least the last 3 elections that I know of. I hope that as the GOP moves further to the Left, their base will look elsewhere.

It's not a matter of practicality alone. It is a matter of principle. A pro-choice person will protect the legality of abortion, will help to ensure that the murder of the unborn goes on. If you vote for such a person, you are indirectly helping to ensure the legality of the slaughter of the unborn.

there you go again........I never attacked pro lifers except for the fact that I think being a one issue voter or going home is defeatest..........and look what you just said, you said...."The War on terror at it's heart, is pro life.".....well isn't that what the stem cell proponents say.....don't confuse my values with what I'm arguing here....I'm arguing that voting for Condi beats voting for Hillary or voting her in by proxy cause you didn't vote..
