Something else I noticed about the coverage of this incident...

I just posted recently about how I think women should not be allowed any where near a combat zone.

Along those same lines (since being an EMT is as close as you can get in the civilian world to being a corpsman or medic on the battlefield), I just saw some coverage of the ATL shooting that showed a female EMT that was trying her best to get the wounded sheriff's deputy and the gurney he was on, up into the ambulance.

HER BEST WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

She was wasting precious seconds that could cost this deputy, or others in other cases, his life. As often HAS to happen, a male stepped in and got the man and gurney up into the ambulance.

Other than this "small" problem, she can probably do her job very well. BUT... if she can't get a victim up into the ambulance, which is a prerequisite for getting the victim to a hospital where his/her life can be saved, WHAT THE HELL, other than political correctness, IS SHE DOING IN THIS JOB?

I have seen MANY instances of this in both military and civilian settings, and it is TOTALLY UNSAT.

I am female, and totally agree with you. If I need help, I hope men are available.

I agree with you 100%. Get those women out of the way when they can't do the job!

As a woman, I couldn't agree with you more. Frankly, I think they should make illegal for us to pump our own gas - I've explained to my son, that it is indeed illegal in Alabama. ;-)

Saw the same video clip you are referring to here. The man was extremely obese. In a case like that, especially with so many people around, she (and her colleagues) should have anticipated needing assistance to avoid the wasted time.

HER BEST WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I once watched a Stossel report on women firefighters. The woman being interviewed said, "Well, if I can't lift the victim, I can drag them by the ankle."

WHAT? A man can pick me up and carry me down the stairs, but you can drag me down by my ankle? No thank you! I'll take a man any time rescuing my 5'4 butt.

Yeah, and what about nurses who have to manipulate heavy bodies all the time? Should there not be female nurses? I wonder how many lives are lost due to the precious moments wasted getting lard butt from the bed to the guerney.

I wonder how many other lives this EMT managed to save? Do you have any idea?

Maybe it's not the EMT at fault... maybe it's obesity?

"I have seen MANY instances of this in both military and civilian settings, and it is TOTALLY UNSAT."

You know how sometimes a trivial scene will stick in your mind? Can't forget a working party I saw...sailors busting hump getting cases of soda on board, carrying two, three, four cases at a time...and here comes two (fairly attractive) girlies in dungarees, each with *one* box of styrofoam cups, bumping shoulders, talking away, mouths moving about six times as fast as their feet...

How long were you in the Navy?

"WHAT THE HELL, other than political correctness, IS SHE DOING IN THIS JOB?"

As I said in my previous post, political correctness reigns supreme. Several people here in the SF Bay Area recently died in a fire for this very same reason. A female affirmative action hire didn't have the upper body strength to handle the equipment, so three lives were sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. These incidents will continue until liberalism no longer exists.
