Fulton Co. Judge shot and killed in courthouse shooting (BREAKING Fri 9A)
WAGA-TV/WSB-TV Atlanta | 3.11.05

Posted on 03/11/2005 6:39:06 AM PST by mhking

This is a breaking news situation.

A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.

The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.

I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

Hmmm... a 140lb woman escorting a dangerous 210lb man into court - what could go wrong?

From the photos so far, I seriously doubt that any woman deputy in that courthouse weighs less than 160 lbs...

If it's on the eighth floor, Boortz can't have been in this courtroom, he hasn't practiced law for years and it's the NEW courthouse that has 8 floors.

I left private practice a long time after Boortz, and I only tried one case in the new courthouse. It was on the eighth floor, but it was before Judge Long.

It's a terrible shame, Judge Barnes was a very well-liked judge and a good man.

Perhaps a better question would be, "Why wasn't he wearing a stun belt?" This was a defendant charged with a crime of violence.

It is reported that he was out on bond. If he was out on bond he would not have been in shackles in the courtroom.

Windy Hill is about 15-20 miles northwest of Atlanta. Windy Hill from Atlanta is a straight shot on 75

She knew Judge Barnes pretty well.

I heard her (Nancy Grace) interviewed earlier- she said she'd practiced before him many times and that he was a wonderful man and judge.

"Time for some courtroom changes."

Those changes will come over the dead bodies (literally) of liberal judges, ACLU lawyers and government employees' unions. I said it at a previous post and I'll say it again now -- some people are too stupid to live.

Other judge said that it occured in the part of the courthouse that was constructed in the 1930s.

Shooting was a long, long way from Windy Hill Road.

Courthouse is downtown, one block west of the State Capitol. Windy Hill Road is just outside the Perimeter (285) on I-75 northbound.

We live out this way, rumors say something's up in the Galleria/Windy Hill area. We're keeping an eye open, we live on a small quiet dead end street, but still . . .

Idiot know-it-all Fox newsreader/Barbi - "Why don't they just block all the roads and search every vehicle?"

Because almost 200,000 vehicles drive on just I-285 every day. Because there are hundreds of roads crisscrossing the area. Because in all likelihood he's already long gone.
