Dan Rather enters the CBS broadcast center for his last scheduled broadcast of the 'CBS Evening News' March 9, 2005 in New York. Tributes to the 73-year-old newsman were mixed with sniping after his final months were marred by a reporting scandal that tarnished his reputation. REUTERS/Chip East
Do you have a source for that, please?
Try search on FR, CBS News etc.
I remember a thread on FR about this.
One thing we know for certain.
Rather never apologized for his hit piece on President Bush.
He did have the last laugh.
No. YOU made the claim. YOU substantiate it. I'm not going to research your claims. LOL.
Rush's watermarks just crack me up everytime I hear them. I just start giggling, and I don't giggle often. Let's just say it's been a long, dark winter and it's good to feel a little goofy again!
Does anyone know who's been using Rush's clips that caused him to insert watermarks? I haven't had much time for perusing FR lately and I'm sure someone here knows the scoop.
Also, thanks to Howlin and all for the live thread on Dan I'd Rather Not's last broadcast. I'm catching up four hours later and it's a hoot!
It's also a plus that I didn't have to subject myself to the experience of actually watching SeeBS News. (:
FR and my trusty radio are my sources for news.
Thanks for the ping!
Well, if a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass.
It's gonna be busier than a one-legged man at an ass kicking contest.

I don't think so. President Bush still has his job. Dan Rather is done. Stripped of the one thing that meant so much to him, the one thing that he pushed Walter Cronkite out for 24 years ago today. His ANCHOR SEAT. He lost it, and with no young whippersnapper from Dallas coming up to bite at his heels, he LOST IT. He lost his treasured ANCHOR CHAIR........to no one........

Rather will continue to work full-time at CBS News as a correspondent for both editions of 60 Minutes, as well as on other assignments for the news division.
CSI New York is on now. They're not investigating "What's the Frequency Kenneth" or Memogate.
I really hope you read the entire paragraph that you just linked. If not, here it is, and by the way it's dated Nov 23, 2004, well AFTER the ANG story aired.
"Dan Rather to Leave CBS Evening News I guess the handwriting on the wall was written in blood.
"Dan Rather Stepping Down (CBS)?Dan Rather announced Tuesday that he will step down as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News in March, 24 years after his first broadcast in that position.
"Rather will continue to work full-time at CBS News as a correspondent for both editions of 60 Minutes, as well as on other assignments for the news division.
CBS made no mention of a potential successor.
Rather, 73, has come under fire for his 60 Minutes report on President Bush's service in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. The report relied on documents that cast Mr. Bush's service in a negative light. Critics charged that the documents were forgeries, and CBS News was unable to vouch for their authenticity. An independent commission is now investigating the matter.
Rather said he would continue to work for CBS News as a correspondent for both editions of "60 Minutes."
"I have always been and remain a 'hard news' investigative reporter at heart," he said. "I now look forward to pouring my heart into that kind of reporting full time."
Rather spoke to his viewers about his exit midway through his evening newscast Tuesday.
"It has been, and remains, an honor to be welcomed into your homes in the evening and I thank you for the trust you have given me," he said.
Rather made no mention of the National Guard story in announcing the change,
saying he had agreed with CBS executives last summer that the right time to leave would be after the Nov. 2 election.

LOL.. maybe that's why we think they're so funny. We've become a bit crazed after this awful winter. ;-D
Actually, I find it odd that Rush was inundated with angry e-mails the first day he aired these "watermarks". Must be the same people who don't like his paper-crackling.
Does anyone know who's been using Rush's clips that caused him to insert watermarks? I haven't had much time for perusing FR lately and I'm sure someone here knows the scoop.
No, I don't. I'd be interested in learning who this is also...
But sources in CBS expect him to be shunted towards retirement rather sooner than his scheduled departure in 2006 - and the beleaguered networks should expect some more conservative crowing when he goes. From a story by Alec Russell, filed August 23, 2004.

Dan Rather desreves all the taint he gets, and then some.
"CBS announced Rather's retirement FROM THE ANCHOR DESK in Mar 05"
Now, I have never seen that before, nor do I know that to be true. I'm waiting for it to be shown to me. You have yet to do it.
Proof enough?
