Dan Rather enters the CBS broadcast center for his last scheduled broadcast of the 'CBS Evening News' March 9, 2005 in New York. Tributes to the 73-year-old newsman were mixed with sniping after his final months were marred by a reporting scandal that tarnished his reputation. REUTERS/Chip East

The ping we've all been waiting for!!!
AND the THREAD we've all been waiting for.
Just caught FNC's little story about him.
Very few media outsdie to welcome him to
cBS studio for his final broadcast.
Best part: the guy who continued to walk behind
FNC's reporter with a sign that read (in part)
GOOD RIDDANCE!

Captain Dan, the tar is calling.

I bet the phoney old fart manages to squeeze out a few tears. With enough syrupy self-glorification to put us all into a diabetic coma!

The only thing better would be to see the CBS evening news closing down permanently.

Why have you bought into the lies put out by the leftists on this? IT IS NOT HIS LAST BROADCAST. He is not retiring. He is only leaving one program: the CBS Evening News. He will continues to work for CBS News on other shows, most notably he will continue to host "60 Minutes Wednesday" -- the very show that got him into trouble in the first place.

That is for sure. Has there been any word on his replacement?

You're a little behind on the news; shortly there will be no "60 Mintues Wednesday," and the people over at "60 Minutes" Sunday don't want him over there.

Gotta head out and collect #2 son, grab something for dinner at the grocery and hopefully get back in time to catch some of danny boy's farewell.

My exact thought...
the guy was clad in "dude clothes"
wearing a cowboy hat. He looked GOOD.

He's Goober without the smile....
To: Howlin
I will be kind to dialupers and post some "mind" pictures. Dan Rather shaking hands with Castro, Dan Rather shaking hands with Saddam Hussein. Dan Rather looking defensive and befuddled at the accusation that the memos aired before the election were forgeries. Might as well throw in Madelaine Albright pressing the flesh with Kim Jong Il while I'm on a roll.
