Almost 50 percent of Americans, according to recent polls, and millions of people elsewhere in the world believe that UFOs are real. For many it is a deeply held belief.
For decades there have been sightings of UFOs by millions and millions of people. It is a mystery that only science can solve, and yet the phenomenon remains largely unexamined. Most of the reporting on this subject by the mainstream media holds those who claim to have seen UFOs up to ridicule.
On Feb. 24, "Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" takes a fresh look at the UFO phenomenon. "As a journalist," says Jennings, "I began this project with a healthy dose of skepticism and as open a mind as possible. After almost 150 interviews with scientists, investigators and with many of those who claim to have witnessed unidentified flying objects, there are important questions that have not been completely answered and a great deal not fully explained."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" airs Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC. The program will be broadcast in High Definition.
This two-hour primetime special reports on the entire scope of the UFO experience from the first famous sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 to the present day. The program draws on interviews with police officers, pilots, military personnel, scientists and ordinary citizens who give extraordinary accounts of encounters with the unexplained. Also included are the voices of professional skeptics about UFOs, including scientists who are leading the search for life forms beyond Earth elsewhere in the universe.
The program explores the facts behind the enduring mystery of the incident at Roswell, N.M., and looks into the strange stories of alien abductions. Among the UFO cases presented:
Minot Air Force Base, N.D., October 1968 Sixteen airmen on the ground and the crew of an airborne B-52 witness a massive unidentified object hovering near the base.
Phoenix, March 1997 Hundreds witness a huge triangular craft moving slowly over the city.
St. Clair County, Ill., January 2000 Police officers in five adjoining towns all independently report witnessing a giant craft with multiple bright lights moving silently across the sky at a very low altitude.
Today if you report a UFO to the U.S. government you will be informed that the Air Force conducted a 22-year investigation that ended in 1969 and concluded that UFOs are not a threat to national security and are of no scientific interest. But as one of the world's leading theoretical physicists says in the program, "You simply cannot dismiss the possibility that some of these UFO sightings are actually sightings from some object created by a civilization perhaps millions of years ahead of us in technology."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" is produced by PJ Productions and Springs Media for ABC News. Mark Obenhaus and Tom Yellin are the executive producers.
really neat key words! followrather, overlordrus, swampgas
All this UFO crap talk would cease to exist if Karl Rove just paid Gannon/Gurkett to write that aliens are here to impose a flat tax, get rid of Social Security and stop gay marriage.
I found this one in the X-Files, 2nd drawer, blue folder.
A lot of wise statements in your post IMHO.
I do believe that in the literature, there's enough assertions from enough disconnected and diverse sources that the net effect for me is
that there is SOME evidence of other planet ET's.
And, I personally bleieve that when Christ said rule and reign with Him--He was logically speaking of countless galaxies and endless ages.
Just the Scriptures about the seed of Abraham outnumbering the stars, TO ME, implies at least man being on other planets. I don't think it's much of a leap from there to imagine other races on other planets.
Then there's the:
ALL CREATION GROANS, WAITING EXPECTANTLY, EAGERLY FOR THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SONS OF MAN--evidently to rule in love and justice over all creation.
Certainly in some Biblical sense animals and even plants and rocks evidently could have some sort of something eager for God to deliver it of the grief os sin soaked creation.
But it's most logical to me, that all creation also includes other ET's on other planets in other galaxies.
It certainly should be for the unbelievers!
Okay, it's late and there are few people to read this ephemera anyway, ahem, but here's what happened to me during my episode.
I "went downstairs" and tried to get the attention of my kids, who were playing a video game, and they, of course, ignored their discorporate father. I went somewhere else where I was gently, but firmly taken in hand by a guy who took me "back to my body," and that was the end of it.
Kids, I found out later, were playing a videogame at the time.
No aliens, don't know what the Hell was going on, but I have never been quite so comfortable with my understanding of what is and what isn't since :-)
Rational explanation: mind was freaking out because something odd, but physiologically explainable was happening, so it began to frantically try to make sense of the experience. Kids playing a videogame isn't a bad guess, so my "dream" happened to correspond with reality. When the "natural" dream didn't help, I "dreamed" something more exotic to allow my consciousness to handle things. If I was into aliens, it might have been an alien; and it might have looked just like everyone knows aliens look, since we've seen them a million times in popular media. Since I wasn't, my encounter was a more generic, not quite an angel, but defiinitely a purposeful authority figure of some sort.
Do I believe that explanation?
I agree.
Essentially.
To the right is Iapetus, moon of Saturn.
Part of the Gospel message is
that NONE of us has the CAPACITY to lastingly, persistently be a truly good person in our own strength.
That ALL of us require a transformation via Christ's Blood and God's Holy Spirit to even begin to be persistently good.
Well FYI I have been on this site for many years and only started recently posting on the "MS is evil" threads, mainly because I am sickened by all the anti-capitalists that choose to support communists like Richard Stallman and his communistic movement instead. Whether you realize the danger he represents as well as I, is apparently something we disagree on.
Well, we don't see unfinished ones. So nobody ever got tired making one? Nobody ever got a cell phone call and had to leave it undone? There was never a sudden lightning storm when they were busy?
If there were alot or even a few unfinished crop circles, you can bet your arse the professional debunkers would be waving it in our face day and night.
But they don't. They're silent on the subject. That makes me think there are very, very few, if any, unfinished crop circles.
And that by itself is a strong argument that something else is involved here.
I don't recall what was simulation and not simulation.
LOL.
:-)
True. I don't need to get territorial at all. Not really my style or perference anyway.
I just come to these threads a bit . . . primed--to be wary and maybe overly defensive.
I get annoyed overly easily with naysayers who pretend tons of expertise in this or that professional area. And when it comes to psych, I'm overly prone to saying--JUST A DARN MINUTE!
Sorry. Thanks.
Thanks. NO sweat. I likely won't be able to make it a priority any time soon. So, was leaning on your indulgence and experties, memory. Thanks much.
I agree about that.
Very graceful! I am impressed. Usually we get out backs up and insult each other.
Lately I have noted that Google has made so much info available and people just know a lot more about things that they once didn't know about. And any medical condition, why people become experts. And FR is full of experts on every esoteric subject you can think of!
They ALL don't.
Bad English is an equal opportunity flaw.
