Almost 50 percent of Americans, according to recent polls, and millions of people elsewhere in the world believe that UFOs are real. For many it is a deeply held belief.
For decades there have been sightings of UFOs by millions and millions of people. It is a mystery that only science can solve, and yet the phenomenon remains largely unexamined. Most of the reporting on this subject by the mainstream media holds those who claim to have seen UFOs up to ridicule.
On Feb. 24, "Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" takes a fresh look at the UFO phenomenon. "As a journalist," says Jennings, "I began this project with a healthy dose of skepticism and as open a mind as possible. After almost 150 interviews with scientists, investigators and with many of those who claim to have witnessed unidentified flying objects, there are important questions that have not been completely answered and a great deal not fully explained."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" airs Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC. The program will be broadcast in High Definition.
This two-hour primetime special reports on the entire scope of the UFO experience from the first famous sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 to the present day. The program draws on interviews with police officers, pilots, military personnel, scientists and ordinary citizens who give extraordinary accounts of encounters with the unexplained. Also included are the voices of professional skeptics about UFOs, including scientists who are leading the search for life forms beyond Earth elsewhere in the universe.
The program explores the facts behind the enduring mystery of the incident at Roswell, N.M., and looks into the strange stories of alien abductions. Among the UFO cases presented:
Minot Air Force Base, N.D., October 1968 Sixteen airmen on the ground and the crew of an airborne B-52 witness a massive unidentified object hovering near the base.
Phoenix, March 1997 Hundreds witness a huge triangular craft moving slowly over the city.
St. Clair County, Ill., January 2000 Police officers in five adjoining towns all independently report witnessing a giant craft with multiple bright lights moving silently across the sky at a very low altitude.
Today if you report a UFO to the U.S. government you will be informed that the Air Force conducted a 22-year investigation that ended in 1969 and concluded that UFOs are not a threat to national security and are of no scientific interest. But as one of the world's leading theoretical physicists says in the program, "You simply cannot dismiss the possibility that some of these UFO sightings are actually sightings from some object created by a civilization perhaps millions of years ahead of us in technology."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" is produced by PJ Productions and Springs Media for ABC News. Mark Obenhaus and Tom Yellin are the executive producers.
What...Art Bell not doing enough?
I feel better when you give a more accurate, more robust presentation of your perspective.
Thanks.
I was surprised to see pilots interviewed. I've heard of different pilot's stories, but never actually seen one willing to get on TV to be interviewed. In that past, the only pilots they interviewed were from foreign countries.
8:00 PM PST!.
"To suggest that we are the only life, is inexcusably egocentric!"
Really!? How do you know that?
Symbolic? The Revelations are VERY scary.
I do believe that virtually all the known ET races are either in cahoots with satan and/or are demons in bioengineered 'bodies.' etc.
I believe our government have craft that are hardware--technology--not demon materializations.
I do believe that there are materializations of demons which do appear as craft. I just don't believe that all craft are that.
While some obviously would like to label you a kook, I'd say I agree with the above comments pretty much across the board, except that I'm not sure there are actually any "ET races" that originate from outer space. Not that it's not possible, just that I don't know of any evidence of it.
As for the show tonight, I thought it was a total loser. Too many interviews, too little actual evidence. Probably because there's not much evidence to begin with, at least not any out in public anywhere in the world, not just the United States.
I have seen Unidentified Flying Objects before, but I have lived on and around Air Force bases most of my life. Most have been explained to my satisfaction by people I trust, except for one incident. What it was, I have no idea, and probably never will. While the aerial maneuvers which lasted for 30 minutes were seen by dozens of people served no understandable purpose, I won't say it wasn't possible by man made objects such as a remote control model plane.
What we do know, at least those of us of faith, is that demonic possession is possible. They are described in the Bible, and the Pope and other priests actually perform exorcisms, even in public sometimes. There are also descriptions of demons taking physical shape, starting with the snake in the Garden of Eden.
History has also carried stories of other unexplained phenomenon, such as leprechauns and witches on brooms. Little green men are probably just the 20th and 21st century versions. Psycho analysis of those reporting first person contact if not abduction more often than not reveal a anti-Christian mindset. In fact, many times the supposed abductee reports that the little green men warned them of Christ, as if his teachings were something to fear, whether you choose to worship him as the Son of God or not.
Add it all up and in my opinion we have a variety of explanations for UFO's, but basically zero evidence they originate from far away planets. I of course could be wrong, but rather than concern myself with the fantasies of those that have no proof, I am more interested in protecting myself from the real and obvious dangers that demons could present.
Some will obviously be offended by my post. I offer no apology, only the thought that until any concrete evidence is provided that alien life forms are inhabiting earth, why should I believe. To those that are outraged by the thoughts of demons roaming the earth and abusing man, I suggest you investigate it further, because there is significantly more evidence of this phenomenon than of little green men from other planets.
Size is relative based on the observation of those involved. Whose to say our universe isn't really just an atom in a molecule in some other universe?
I think it's pretty difficult to attempt to get much of a handle on Revelation without a lot of reading and rereading Daniel 9 etc. and Ezekiel 37 or so.
And what is it--Matthew 20-25.
Well, they're supposed to :-)
When I read them for the first time I remember thinking this is pretty cool, the bad guys are going to get what they deserve. Then I started thinking, hey this is talking about friends of mine. Then I started thinking, hey this is talking about me. Which inspired some life changes with the rest of the book pointing the way.
And it did lead to some changes in my politics from thinking government economic control is fine to being very afraid of it. You can argue that when its time for the trumpets nothing we do is going to stop them, but I still vote as though I should try.
Imho,
you have a lot of shocking developments ahead of you in your life.
A lot of things you construed to be logical will turn out to have been otherwise.
And vice versa.
There's a diversity--wide diversity of stuff from coal seams from Africa, Europe, South America, USA, Canada and China what would not fit your criteria of logical.
Your logical seems, essentially to be:
I HAVEN'T SEEN IT = THEREFORE IT'S NOT LOGICAL.
Glad you come in peace! LOL.
I have studied it and have the PhD in clincial psychology to go with that.
And, I have experienced it in my teens more than a little.
No, I don't believe I"ve ever been abducted.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
We shall see.
I've only seen ONE puzzle piece assert such a thing.
But, it does match their mentality and lack of morals.
Or at least their notions of 'morality.
Face it we live on a Lil' Abner planet.Ant self respecting alien would be laughed off his planet if he elected to remain here.
It took us millions of years just to get a rocket off the ground into our little space.
But according to Jews & Christians we have only been out of the cave for 6,000 years.
I have never seen a UFO but that don't mean they do not exist.I have seen a ghost and we know they don't exist, right ?
All I can add is that not everyone who has these memories were hypnotized, and many were not abducted from their beds. These too may have a scientific basis, but from what I could see, they couldn't be bothered to thoroughly investigate the possibility. It was easier to pooh-pooh the peoples' stories, and decide what they considered to be the cause as true, without out any supporting evidence of their own.
It's alright. I don't believe any of it any way, no more than I believe a ghost story.
I just try to be a good person.
One of the reasons I decided in my teens not to have children.
I'm 58 now. I don't regret it at all.
But, it wouldn't have mattered that much in terms of THOSE people. They'd at least be adults. But they'd also have all that ahead of them.
Though the Bible says that the greats of Old Testament times essentially begged to be born into OUR time to experience the climax of history as we've known it. So, I guess I have to trust God that this time is best for me! LOL.
Besides, what if we did have SOME say about the period we were born into.
