Sixth Circuit Court Judge George Greer ruled late Monday afternoon that George Felos and Michael Schiavo cannot implement their stated plan to withdraw the gastric feeding tube of Terri Schindler-Schiavo until a hearing is held on Weds, Feb 23 to determine if the stay in effect from Greer's 2000 death order should remain in place while her parents, Mary and Robert Schindler Sr., continue with their legal options in trying to keep her alive.
The Schindlers had hoped to convince the court that starving Terri to death would violate her religious liberties. As a Catholic, the Schindlers contend Terri would not want to have her life ended.
If anyone ever deserved a second chance, it's Terri Schiavo, the central figure in a battle for the rights of the handicapped. She has no idea of the controversy swirling about her, and has been unaware of the fight for her life since she collapsed of a potassium deficiency in 1990. But regardless of the why and how, Terri's collapse starved her brain of oxygen, and she has never been mentally or physically revived past a semi-vegetative state.

You've twice stated that she was 'just lying there' or a 'dent in the sheets'.
This description is completely wrong.
She is not 'just lying there', she is interactive with her parents and she sits upright.
She responds to her parents when spoken too and even laughs when they tease her.
This is hardly someone in a 'vegetative state'.
I don't know if Terri told her husband her wishes, and neither do you; you don't know whether she told him anything regarding her own euthanasia, or if she told him she wanted to die under the circumstances she now finds herself, or if she told him she wanted to live under such circumstances.
You are advocating for the death of this woman, not knowing the facts; I am advocating for her life.
It is a very important truism: If the possibility for error is in play, one should err on the side of life.

The parent's position is ridiculous. It is starkly apparent that Terry is NEVER COMING BACK! It is JUST A SHELL lying there.

udge Greer Issues Temporary Stay till 5:00 pm tomorrow!
Attorneys for the Schindlers have just been notified that Judge Greer has granted their Emergency Motion for a Temporary Stay. The new Stay will hold over until after tomorrow's hearing and by its terms will remain in effect until 5:00 pm, February 23.
2nd DCA Issues MANDATE Without Further Instructions
As expected, the 2nd District Court of Appeals issued its Mandate this afternoon at 1:00. The stay protecting Terri's life has now expired by its own terms. A motion for a new stay is set to be heard by Judge Greer tomorrow at 2:45. [more]
Attorneys for the Schindlers have been advised that Judge Greer is in possession of the 2nd DCA's Mandate and their Emergency Motion for a Temporary Stay, and that he intends to rule on that motion this afternoon as soon as possible.
In the meantime, Terri is being fed. Her family is with her and she is doing well.

Are you a doctor that's examined Terri? Actually, the Schindlers are trying to get the court to allow tests. Greer usually rules against it.
"In light of the miraculous awakening of Miss Sarah Scantlin in Kansas and the success of the new brainwave test reported in the New York Times this week, my daughter deserves to have this test before she is starved to death by judicial decree," said Terri’s father, Bob Schindler, in a written statement issued Feb. 11.

Why is the husband in such an all-fired hurry to have his wife die? Is there any life insurance involved? If he doesn't want her, why doesn't he just let her parents take over the responsibility? There is something about Terri's husband that just doesn't pass the smell test.
You are one cruel individual. God help you.
That is BS and if you had spent any time here, you would know it. This is a human life we are talking about. Money has nothing to do with it (from our perspective, anyway). Incidentally, why do you feel the need to shout? Are your opinions not sufficiently valid on their own?
It is really the only issue that matters. All the other issues about the character of Michael and the judge in the case are an annoying distraction.

You don't know the half of it. He is shacked up with his finace- they have two kids already as well-
He and Terri had a fight the night she collpased- Terri's friend begged her to not stay at home that night and come to her place- BTW the fight was over HIM CHEATING! AGAIN!
If he just divorces her- he not only loses out on all the $$$$ he begged and sued for to take care of her-- but then when Terri does get therapy and she can talk-- he just might end up in the slammer!

Keon, somewhere I read in the last few days that one doctor said her brain was not mush, and that it had actually improved between 1996 and 2002 (I think those were the dates). That was news to me, although I never considered Terri to be PVS anyway. My computer has crashed so many times, that I'm not sure if I got to save a copy of it or not. Now that Terri has gotten a reprieve [THANK YOU, LORD!], I will try to find it. If anyone finds it in the meantime and posts it, that would be great.
