My seventh grader is doing a science fair project involving "handedness". She needs a larger sample for her data. If you would like to help, please do the following: clasp your hands together with your fingers intertwined. Report which thumb is on top and if you are right or left handed. Thanks for your help! Standing outside the grocery store didn't work, even with tootsie rolls as a thank you. People were too afraid we were selling something!
Left Thumb on top, Right Handed
I'm left-handed and my right thumb is over my left.
Right handed...left thumb on top.
Me - right-handed, left thumb on top
My husband - same
Cool experiment. Good luck, and don't forget to come back with a summary of the results!
Suspicious..of what? At worst, he and I could be blood-related, somewhere back down the line - a genetic factor. At best, a mere coincidence caused by the vageries of chance. :o)
Left thumb on top; left-handed
Just a side note...I shifted my fingers so that the right thumb would be on top and it just doesn't feel right at all to me.
Left-handed, left thumb on top.
Left-handed, left thumb on top of right thumb...also in my "Right Minde"! :-)
R-handed, R thumb on top. That's me...husband has left for the day....
Left thumb right handed : )
Left on top. I'm right handed.
This is an extremely poorly designed experiment that shows nothing relating to handedness.
The thumb on top depends strictly on how you lace your fingers...regardless of whether you are right-handed or left-handed, blue-eyed or whether you had corn flakes for breakfast.
Lace your fingers with the left little finger in the bottom position. Now your right thumb is on top.
Lace your fingers with the right little finger in the bottom position. Now your left thumb is on top.
This survey may measure gullibility but it certainly does not measure traits related to handedness. Either the poster is pulling our chain , the exercise is measuring gullibility or the science education in the education racket is even stupider that I think it is.
Ah! That makes sense!
I think we may have had an old record with Danny Kaye telling stories. Could that be?

Right hand, right thumb
I also assist in 'diaramas'.
Suggestion: try this experiment with very small children and see if they can vary it more easily.
My science project in elementary school's theme was about the Balance of Nature. I stuck various amounts of algae plants in jars with various amounts of snails. All but one of the jars became funky, while the snail with alot of algae thrived. I won my school's first place and then went on to the state competition, but I think some fancy very original volcane landed first place.
