I don't think we'll have all that long to wait. :-)

In looking through the posts, I realize you were the one who was talking with him in the replay. And since you read my post to Jim Robinson, you know where I am coming from. Sean needs to take on the mantle of leader, and not worry when his "friends" are attacked. Sean and his "friends" have all won life's battles for economic security and public status. They are all strong enough to bear petty criticisms.

I will never use the phrase "The Hannityville Horror" again.

And I'll never use "Insanity Hannity."

people weren't necessarily upset because he referred to us as 'fringe'...it was his classless act of promoting his own website while insulting us that put his comments over the top.

Not too many people here argue much about imminent domain.

That's only because very few specific cases of imminent domain abuse are put up for discussion.

I too am worried about it though.

I hadn't considered that.

It would be worth keeping an eye on to determine.

Those were some fun days. We usually seem to get past our differences, which I hope will happen this time. The left is out to discreditall conservitive sites because of Rathergate and Jordangate. We all need to form our own coalition to counter them

"I've bashed Kathleen Parker, Peggy Noonan, Jonah Goldberg, and Pinky (Pinkerton)."

I too respect all of these people. But if I disagree with them, I wouldn't expect them abandon me out of pique. Earlier in the week, the Wall Street Journal was sympathetic with Eason Jordan. FreePers were quick to disagree. I don't disrespect WSJ in its entirety just because of that editorial, but they in turn shouldn't take it hard if conservatives happen to disagree strongly.

We are about a week apart from posting privileges! How funny.

I'd been reading for probably a couple years off and on before evolving from lurker to "official" FReeper.....

Tried once in 98 or 99 to sign up...HTML just seemed too complicated...I was new to computers, computers weren't ready for me...yada, yada, yada....

Then came "pregnant chads"...and I'd had enough...you couldn't have chained me away from finally posting..!! LOL!!

FRegards,

That right there, the FAWNING, is my basic problem with talk radio icons.

The same with internet iconettes, like Sabre.

"I'm gonna tune in and listen to the SMART feller talk" is just not something I can fathom.

Iconette...LOL

Yep, I agree. Of course the iconettes and too-full-of themselves media/hollywood types love the fawning.

And the definition is interesting for fawning...

1 : to show affection -- used especially of a dog
2 : to court favor by a cringing or flattering manner

Jim Robinson is a class act, and he proves it once again. Sean Hannity is a class act. He is generous in the extreme, he commits an enormous amount of time and money to support our armed forces (where too many others just give lip service), he was crucial in his support of the president's re-election, and he is selfless in other pursuits completely unknown to most people -- including supporting his fellow conservative talk show hosts in their efforts to battle the mainstream media. I am amazed at the attacks on his intelligence, which have festered here for months and months and represent the kind of cheap character assassination practiced by the Left. I know Sean well, and he is incredibly sharp and intelligent. And he has a unique ability to connect with the vast majority of his audience. There are certain individuals on this website -- some of whom are no doubt liberals pretending to be conservatives, and some of whom are no doubt simply nasty -- who seem to get a perverse satisfaction in attacking conservatives who are on the frontline of our battle -- not just Sean, but Rush and others. Frankly, I don't blame Sean for leaving. Nobody wants to be abused like this. Especially someone who has been for FreeRepublic early on. There's a lesson in all of this -- keep the focus on our adversaries, and let's stop chewing up our own. And I speak as a proud Freeper of long-standing.

It takes a certain type of personality to understand the culture of the internet and survive it without the interest of heavy regulation.

I'm sorry people like Sean left, but it doesn't really concern me. It was their choice, their loss. Playing in this type of free atmosphere can sharpen your skills. It certainly keeps my admitted ability to bore easily in check.

Someone should write a journal on the History of FR. It'd be a fascinating read.

Preaching? Not my intent Howlin.

BTW, pleased to meet you. If I remember right you were the one who started the thread where Rather's fraudulent memos were uncovered, and am pleased to meet one of FR's finest.

If I have the wrong person, my apologies. But pleased to "meet" you anyway. :)

Words mean something. If what you say is true, then he needs to explain his remarks. Otherwise, I will take it the way I understood it.
