Maybe I'd jaded from many years on the net, or perhaps it is because I wasn't there when this all went down, or perhaps it's the way you told it....but your descriptions of the wars is so amusing in retrospect.

FR sure has a colorful past. I'm certain the next primary will be memorable. LOL

"Then it got personal, you are an idiot, you are a RINO, you a liar."

Wow, sounds just like the CA recall threads! That might have been FRWar III.

Haha...DU is just jealous. The closest they came to busting a big news story was when they thought they caught Bush wearing a combat ribbon that he was allowed to wear since it was a unit citation. They went ape sh*t for days, thinking they finally busted him.

Of course, what do expect from a group of people who poured thousands of dollars into some gals grand black-box scheme (to throw the presidential election) as she took most of them to the bank. Not exactly the brightest bulbs on the planet.

I do not know who your Friend was, but I do know that Ratings matter more to Talking Heads than my Values, your values, or your friends Values.

About your post #128... It's not that they necessarily "run other posters off", it's just that some folks have very different definitions of civility, and choose to not subject themselves to the abuse or condescention that sometimes follows posting something someone like you doesn't like or completely agree with.

Some here at FR like to bully from the safe confines behind their computer.

There's a name for that. Of course I could be wrong.

Not.

Exactly. I am saying there might be a group of sleepers whose objective is to trash Hannity and they arrive under different names.

He's been targeted.

Then after they've offended him and driven him away they'll start in on Rush. Then Mark Levin. Then Tony Snow.

Get it?

The opuses were great fun to read in FReeper war 1. I am sorry so many excellent and connected posters left but many stayed and new excellent posters join all the time, so I think those that left in a huff really only hurt themselves.

If you are looking for love a popular free for all internet forum is not a good choice. Not all 50,000 or so posters is going to kiss your butt.

How can a poster run off another poster?

That's what I wondered. Until someone tried to run me off for over a year. Heck, over 2 years! Got a posse together and went after me. I never pushed abuse even though the whole group broke lots of rules, written and unwritten.
I hardly ever posted a reply to posts to and about me, but when I did I just stated the truth. Which was so accurate that some of my replies were pulled.

Eventually the poster that started it left.

The posse kept after me until finally one of them accused me of "running off posters from FR."

I asked who could that be and after telling me off in the reply he mentioned a screen-name and said "That's who you ran off!"

LOL

Later I was told by that person that I wasn't the reason for the decision to leave.

Of course the friend was told that I was...

Yes it is, just the other day a poster got me so pissed I called him a jerk off. I try, but I do not always succeed.

I think they do a great job overall monitoring this place these days. It's tough because it's subjective. During election season I think rules justifiably get tighter. Seems smart to me.

As for conservative journalists getting bashed, I've griped about a few. I don't know. Hmm...here is my confession about who I've bashed: Kathleen Parker, Peggy Noonan, Jonah Goldberg, and Pinky (Pinkerton). But they've used their columns to bash issues or people I care about, so I feel justified. I try to use only recycled criticism (giving them a dose of their own medicine). When you're dishing out criticism for a living then you really need to be able to take it from others.

Obviously, Hannity has or has had some kind of input here on Free Republic, I am unaware of what name Hannity posted under. I am innocent of whatever is going on. I simply did not like Hannity before the remarks....and like him even less after the remarks about Free Republic.

"[I] have no interest in what this little pixie has to say now."

This comment ties in to what I wrote about in post No. 276. (I'm singling it out only because it happened to fall immediately after my own post, and so was easy for me to spot.)

"Little pixie"? This is what I meant by emotion trumping reason. I don't see what cause is served by this kind of rhetoric. I don't watch or listen to Sean Hannity, either. But what point is advanced with name-calling? What goal does it accomplish? How does "little pixie" persuade anyone that Hannity's ideas or opinions are wrong?

That was you huh?

Good Job! That was an enlightening conversation.

I didn't hear it until the noon replay here in California and if you were on about 9:30 EST you are the one I heard.
