Even if you hate me, I don't hate you. In fact I believe we can move beyond such concepts.

First we arent enemies, and we can co-exist. A socialist utopia? No. The goal is not to have a socialist utopia, the goal is to allow everyone to be a winner. We don't really care HOW you make everyone a winner as long as we all win.

A socialist utopia may require taxes and really no one likes to pay taxes. Everyone likes to win however and I don't see why either side would want to have winners and losers when we can all be winners. The question you should ask liberals is how can we all be winners?

ah. so. you wish to create an artificial barrier to meritocracy and competition, hrmn? Had you said you wished to allow every on to reap what he had sown, you'd be in line with the beliefs of Jefferson (ref: second inaugural address). As it stands, it sounds like you are of the Leninist stripe - "to each according to his needs" rather than "to each according to what he has earned"

I can't believe I'm actually talking with this trout.

Obviously you are about 14 or that is your mental development.

Winning: That's what any self reliant person with a will to work hard and a third grade education can do in the US of A. Foreigners who can't even speak the language come here and become wealthy in less than a generation.

Stay. Leave. Be happy. Be a jerk. Nobody cares. You lost. Shutup and live your life. We won. We beat your ass despite the entire lame-stream media AND Hollywood trying to put leftists in office. That's the way it is. We don't have to accomodate you or even care that you exist.

You base your entire political philosophy on worrying about underachieving dummies who can't make it in this economy. I'm sorry but dragging down an entire civilization because of the few percent that fail in a land where even and uneducated foreigner can get rich if he half tries is just stupid.

As to the truly honest poor or the kid who never had a chance ... we have always given them a hand up and we always will.

If you can't win in America you are not trying.

, the goal is to allow everyone to be a winner.

Not possible. Everyone cannot be a winner and anyone who thinks so is a loser.

We can all reach for higher things but we are not going to always get them. And there is a cost. There must always be a cost or else it is worthless.

Having a system where your only limits are those that you place on yourself (which is what we want) and your system where "everybody is a winner" are two quite different things.

Everybody being a winner is not in your power to grant. It is not within the power of any human.

A socialist utopia

I haven't read the entire thread, maybe you've already explained what in the world a "socialist utopia" is. If so, point me to that post. I'm really curious as to what that might be.

Wrong. Everybody gets a CHANCE to win; the playing field is level. If someone chooses not to work, not to save, not to care for themselves, then tough s***; they're on their own.

Son, you are already a winner by having been born in this nation!

Or did I just ass-u-me too much?

If this isn't the most nonsensical thing I've ever read, it's pretty close.

Each person defines for himself what it means to be a "winner."

The only truly objective definition of "winning" is the one in God's eyes, and the government can't legislate salvation.

The question you should ask liberals is how can we all be winners?

The answer to that question, would lie in whether or not you are chained to zero-sum theory, or if you can envision that economies are in reality, not zero-sum. So, my counter-question is this...

Are you willing to at least look at the possibility that a nation cannot ever tax itself into prosperity, rather than reduce taxes across the board, to achieve a vibrant economy, and still garner such tax revenues as would be sufficient for legitimate government purposes?

"the goal is to allow everyone to be a winner"

Were you the last person picked for the kick ball team in grade school? Do you wish to change that by prohibiting picking teams, not allowing any winners due to the damaged ego and having beauty pageants where everyone is a winner? Tell me what socialism has contributed to the general welfare of the world over Capitalism?
