A liberal - To the Republican community.
1. What are your goals as Republicans?
2. Is your goal to make Liberals to leave America?
3. If you want us to stay, when does this country go too far to the right?
4. If you want us to leave, will the US government pay for our plane tickets?
Even if you hate me, I don't hate you. In fact I believe we can move beyond such concepts.
First we arent enemies, and we can co-exist. A socialist utopia? No. The goal is not to have a socialist utopia, the goal is to allow everyone to be a winner. We don't really care HOW you make everyone a winner as long as we all win.
A socialist utopia may require taxes and really no one likes to pay taxes. Everyone likes to win however and I don't see why either side would want to have winners and losers when we can all be winners. The question you should ask liberals is how can we all be winners?
first, you misrepresent the character of the posts.
second, if you really want to discuss this in a civil and thoughtful manner, go here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1273135/posts
as you will see, we are several steps ahead of you.
a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority
b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
You see, the way this is supposed to work is that we all vote and then whoever gets the most votes gets to lead the country.
The people should then all get behind the majority and support the country and it's leaders at least until the next election.
People who do not support the majority's right to lead do not support democracy and are called anarchists.
That's the one thing I have always found very interesting...after the 60 odd years of anti-poverty programs programs how come we still have Poverty? I mean, isn't that the grand indicator of how bankrupt Liberalism is? In fact isn't it considered insanity to be doing the same thing over and over again even though it doesn't work?
In fact, I even feel it borders on the criminal when you think of all the lives that have been ruined by these supposedly "progressive" social programs, allegedly designed to "lift people out of poverty" (as I remember one pompous liberal professor telling me in school), when long ago I recognized that these programs were designed to be a Balm for the Rich "Liberals'" conscience.
You know I'll even go one further, In ancient times during the Roman Empire, didn;t the rich nobles and the Emperor supply "Bread and Circuses" to the poorer citizens of Rome just to keep them happy and fed so they wouldn't rebel and wind up killking their masters?
To "The_Liberal Person" on the former...Think about that one ...
WOW! That was excellent.
We won, you lost. Get over it and move on.
Welcome to FR!
YOu don't have to leave. Just STFU. Simple enough? Now a few things you do need to do.
1. Get a job.
2. Read some US history.
3. Support our troops.
4. Quit asking everyone else to solve you problems.
shall we summon the crew?
this thread is utterly amusing
In response:
Our goals are to create a decent society without resorting to the forcible redistribution of wealth and molltcoddling perfectly able human beings. We also do not wish to live in a place where behavior and activities that we consider abhorrent are somehow elevated to the level of "Constitutional Rights". Perhaps if y'all stopped yapping like wounded poodles for five minutes and actually listened to us, you;d understand this.
As to whether you should leave or not, that's a decision you need to make. As to whether the gov't should pay for your plane ticket, I remind you that millions of legitimately poor and oppressed people routinely find their way into this country, many of them on foot. It's also enviornMENTALly safer that way. You also have a lot of nerve to ask the rest of us to pick up the tab for your relocation, since no one has actually forced you to leave.
How far right is too far right? Well, considering that the wrorst regimes in the planet's history have always been LEFTIST (i.e. Nazism, Communism, et. al.), I say you could never be too far right. Even at it's worst, Fascism was never a destructive system in the way that Nazism and Communism were, merely super-nationalist. By the way, it still exists, but not here in America. If you want to see Fascism first hand, I recommend a trip to France, perhaps taking a few days to visit your good buddy, Hugo Chavez.
Listen, liberals (which is NOT what you are, by the way, but it's a convenient label) occasionally have a good idea. The problem is in the execution. Instead of debate, instead of making a clear and concise case for your ideals, you typically cram them down our throats by perverting the court system and circumventing the governmental process, usually because you know that if your idea were actually put to a vote, it would lose hands down. The point of a republic, like ours, is that the people, noot Congress, not the courts, have the final say. For a bunch who claim to be committed to the will of the people, you have an incredible talent for ignoring that will when it's made known.
I say stay; America needs a dissident voice as any healthy society does, but learn to grow up. Just because we don't agree with you does not make us evil. Just because you cannot achieve your goals through legitimate Constitutional procedures doesn't mean you have to throw a hissy fit and throw brickbats. Just because you can never win an argument on logic, doesn't mean you have to get nasty and start calling people names.
Finally, learn to listen and give serious thought as to what we're telling you. The trick to understanding a Conservative is that he/she is typically drawing on the accumulated knowledge of 10,000 or so years of civilization, and not merely dreaming out loud.It may not always be fair, and quite frankly, it might not always be right, but it has worked for mankind up to this point. I submit as evidence the fact that we no longer live in caves, have open-heart surgery or have to spend most of our time chasing gazelles for sustenance.
besides, you will eventually come 'round to our point of view. I quote Winston Churchill:
"Any man under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart. Any man over 30 who is not a conservative, has no brain...."
Sounds good to me.
It's not every day where you run across a troll too weak and pathetic to bother zotting.
It's a sign of the apocalypse, isn't it.
I'll explain. Single parent households. Segregation. Sexism, Racism. These things do exist, perhaps not for you but they do influence your likelyhood of poverty.
Maybe I should give up here. As I see it poverty doesnt benefit any of us. In a global economy when you have ghettos in this country with people who are living in poverty you won't be as competitive as you would be if everyone had access to a decent education. The way out of poverty should be hard work, but the way out should be highlighted by conservatives.
If education is the way out then don't you think we need to pay for that? If you don't think people in poverty should ever get out of it then how is the ownership society going to work?
Anyway I feel like I'm wasting my effort here. I try to stay calm and have a civil discussion about the core philosophies but many people here insist on tossing insult after insult. I'm not saying progressives wont act the same but we can never fix this country when we can't even debate the merits of the philosophy of both progressives and conservatives.
Most people here seem libertarian. All I want to say is that if you voted for Bush and anything bad happens in these next 4 years, please take responsibility for it. Don't blame liberals this time because Republicans are conservatie right?
I have my doubts about Republicans being conservative. I see government getting bigger, too big, and I see our freedoms being removed. But if you all are comfortable with this then I'll shut up and let the majority have what they want.
Does your daddy know you are playing with the computer? Better run along now it's nap time. Tell your third grade teacher she/he's an idiot.
y'all just gotta come see what the tides washed up this morning.
be >cough!< gentle - this isn't (yet) a ZOT!
But just think of the long term savings. We could do an "adopt-a-liberal emigrant" program. If each of us adopted one and bought it a one way plane ticket to the communist hellhole liberal mecca of its choice, with an enforceable agreement never to return, of course, that plane ticket would more than pay for itself very quickly in tax benefits alone. Perhaps we could even extend it to include an "adopt-an-illegal alien deportee."
Starting with the easiest question to answer, cuz the rest are related.
Conservatives believe in smaller government and more self reliance.
You should buy your own tickets.
If you have little money and a car, you should drive. Canada has roads.
If you have no car, we can set up a pay pal and do a collection effort with our members. It will not take long at all to fund a great number of transactions. Our volunteers are generous to a fault, and love to help others less fortunate.
I meant to write 218 to you.
Don't forget the easy availability of foot power, either...
