A Cupertino high school choir teacher has been charged with having sex with two of his students.

Brett Michael Bartlett, 25, of Campbell was arrested Tuesday at Homestead High School, where he has served as the choir teacher for the last three years. Investigators were called after two students told school officials they suspected Bartlett was having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student.

Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them.

This is getting so rampant. Ugh, disgusting. No wonder homeschooling is on the rise. And parents will soon be sending their kids to school with Pepper spray to ward off attacking teachers!

I can't think of a worse betrayal of public trust. These people (men and women) are sick and predatory.

>>A Cupertino high school

Wasn't that the place where a teacher refused to read/pass handouts of the Declaration of Independence because it mentioned the G-word?

Whew, good thing he's not a Priest. Then, the media would really cover it.

That punishment disproportionately affects male abusers. I think SCOTUS would find it unconstitutional on that basis.

So be it.

Nah, you don't need pepper spray, just a Bible, a copy of the Constitution, and a pro-life shirt.

I am a teacher, pro-life, and a Bible-believing Christian. There are many of us who are conservative and disgusted by the way these people and the NEA makes us look. I don't blame any of you for your animosity towards public school teachers because they are often liberal, America-hating jerks. However, there are a few of us out there who still believe in family values. After all 33% of the NEA members voted for Bush.

Ummm....only applies when the student isn't "willing".

And no, I don't condone teacher/student relations - period. And I have seen female students quite literally throw themselves at male teachers (particularly young coaches). Unfortunately, too many teachers don't have the willpower, morals, and just plane common sense to be a professional ADULT.

In some places, such behavior on the part of a teacher is "taken care of" by the locals. Sometimes it's not very pretty - but sure can be effective.

Then you have those locals who will just run the offender out of town - only to do the same at their next school....

Yes this is a problem that is getting media attention. But the epidemic is married women having sex with teenagers. I know of two couples that split up over this. Teacher or not, for some reason married women in general are going crazy. What gives?

Not without EVIDENCE, and corrorating ADULT witnesses. We've had people incarcerated because the police coerced children to lie (remember the whole Daycare witch-hunt), we've had a student accuse her teacher for revenge (she got a bad grade).

There is a reason why I would never be a Scout Leader today. All it takes is ONE Boy Scout to make an accusation, and everything I have worked for, earned and achieved is gone. People will rush to condemn me, without bothering to listen to the facts, or the other side of the story.

Bottom line, no evidence, no crime.

Where were teachers like this when I was in school? Is he hot!?

That's the standard freeper line around here, right?

What you described is the result of removing the presumption of innocence.

"Let's do it for the children!" "Children never lie about such things", ad nauseam.

Well, when I was in high school, I was 18 and had a physics student teacher who was 22. And she was hot.

Yeah, where are all the posts claiming that this 16 year old girl 'hit the jackpot', and how it certainly won't scar her emotionally or screw up her life? Oh wait, that only applies if the 16 year old is MALE, and the teacher is FEMALE.

By the way, LOVE the sig July4th!

Yes, but the freeper will then provide some bu*lsh*t rationalization like "It's the male's destiny so sow their seed, while it's the female's destiny to be a nurturing nest-builder, so it's OK for the boy but a hideous crime against the girl. As long as the woman involved is a hot babe."
