Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them.

This is getting so rampant. Ugh, disgusting. No wonder homeschooling is on the rise. And parents will soon be sending their kids to school with Pepper spray to ward off attacking teachers!

I can't think of a worse betrayal of public trust. These people (men and women) are sick and predatory.

Wasn't that the place where a teacher refused to read/pass handouts of the Declaration of Independence because it mentioned the G-word?

Whew, good thing he's not a Priest. Then, the media would really cover it.

Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them. That punishment disproportionately affects male abusers. I think SCOTUS would find it unconstitutional on that basis.

Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them. Not without EVIDENCE, and corrorating ADULT witnesses. We've had people incarcerated because the police coerced children to lie (remember the whole Daycare witch-hunt), we've had a student accuse her teacher for revenge (she got a bad grade).
There is a reason why I would never be a Scout Leader today. All it takes is ONE Boy Scout to make an accusation, and everything I have worked for, earned and achieved is gone. People will rush to condemn me, without bothering to listen to the facts, or the other side of the story.
Bottom line, no evidence, no crime.

Quite frankly I don't understand it. I teach teenagers, and have had my share of flirtatious students, but I must admit that I have never been tempted. Who wants a teenage girl as a lover? The age and maturity difference means that you can't have a real relationship, and the risks involved greatly outweigh any possible romantic benefits. I just don't see the reason...
To be honest, I tend to think of my female students more as my daughters than as potential romantic interests. It's one of the reasons that I'm known as the school dresscode-Nazi; I wouldn't want my own daughter to wear some of the stuff that these kids show up to school in!
The only possibility that I can see is that the teachers doing so are as immature as the students. Unfortunately, I have met a few teachers who actually teach in high school because they loved high school so much when they were that age, and they want to relive it again. They get way too involved in the students' world. I can see how those folks might do something so stupid, but I just can't see how a rational adult could...

Some of you people have obviously not visited your local public high school recently!
Any male teacher with an ounce of testosterone in his body would have to be either a Saint or gay to not be attracted to some of these sluts that throw themselves at their male teachers.

It seems public school teachers are getting a name for themselves much as the Catholic priest have gotten. Is there something in the institution of public schools that is leading so many teachers to run a astray of their good senses.
Surely with all these incidents it is time to implement mandatory sensitivity training and counseling for teachers. Perhaps it might even be time that students be forewarned about teachers much the same way as children are instructed to be wary of strangers and inappropriate touching

Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them. That is all well and good for the ones that have been caught. But with some many incidents, there ought to be measures taken to protect school children from teachers so no more fall victim.
Something must be done not only to punish but to stop this as well.

What in the world is going on in PUBLIC SCHOOL these days?! I wonder if "teaching" sex education has anything to do with it? Do these so-called teachers think they can abuse these kids and get by with it?!!!

Well, if he were female and the students were male he could go on Larry King and talk about how romantic the whole situation is.

A Long Time Ago, In A Place Far, Far Away...
To Sir With Love - LULU
Words and Music by Don Black and Mark London
Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone
But in my mind I know they will still live on and on
But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume?
It isn't easy, but I'll try
If you wanted the sky I would write across the sky in letters
That would soar a thousand feet high 'To Sir, With Love'
The time has come for closing books and long last looks must end
And as I leave I know that I am leaving my best friend
A friend who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong
That's a lot to learn, but what can I give you in return?
If you wanted the moon I would try to make a start
But I would rather you let me give my heart 'To Sir, With Love'

Must be a new NEA/AFT teacher policy.
They've been screwing the taxpayer, now it's the students.
