I will be sure to get word to you that I'm fine once the surgery is over, though it likely won't be until Friday.

Oh my goodness! I'm not sure, but I'm thinking this is good news/bad news.
Whatever, you are still in my daily prayers, and I know the Good Lord is watching over you.
Congratulations on the new baby. I will now be praying for a safe delivery for your wife also.
Please do keep us updated.

You have a lot of friendly associates in North Carolina. Let us know where and when you'll be in what hospital in Durham, and we will bring balloons and smuggle pizza.

I wish you well.
What I'd like to know (kinda selfish) is how you feel with what you have gone through (Life gets kinda bored when all is okay and one tends to disconnect a bit from feelings and emotions about living).

Good luck. Nerve wracking (and wrecking) surgery. Having a surgeon digging around in your grey matter isn't a pleasant thought....but it sure beats the heck out of doing nothing. I'm optimistically hoping to see you around here for a long time.

It sounds like you are on the ball as far as following through and not being passive. Always remember this isn't a spectator sport, you have to be an active participant. If there are times that you are too ill to handle it yourself you need a family member to act as a patient advocate for you so you don't get lost in the system. You will be in my prayers.
