STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Laura Bush is more often seen in a pansuit than a suit with a skirt. I don't know why that is.

WHAT IS THE OBSESSION WITH AN EXIT PLAN?????I think the RATs know it is a question that cannot be answered because, as the Iraqi prez said, that would be insane. Therefore the RATs are free to keep asking the question and make it look like the pubs aren't playing it straight. Of course that strategy can only suceed when the MSM is party to the fraud.

The problem with that is that it may just turn into a lame partisan stunt that would take away some of the value of the symbolism away from the Iraqis. Its risky and I think it reeks of attention whorishness. I am completely against it. It cheapens what the Iraqis did.

I have heard people claiming that if the Iraqis didn't vote then they wouldn't get their monthly food rations. They are willing to say anything to undermine the Iraqi people and our President.

re: The "exit plan".
The Dems are setting themselves up for another bashing on that one. They keep droning on about exit plans, bring the troops home, etc.
Stupidly, they don't realize that Bush is going to do just that---next year as we're gearing up for the mid term elections! There'll be all those lovely shots of wives kissing husbands, new babies born since Daddy went to Iraq, little boys wearing his helmet. Proud Moms & Dads.
And Bush will certainly make a few appearnaces.
What will the Rats have left to say then?
