STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.

Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).

Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.

Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.

Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I disagree..I think it would show our respect for the Iraqi's..for risking their lives and for them to really know we are behind them..we're there to help..not occupy.

David Gregory is "monkey-boy."

Is that his official FR nickname, like "pretty chicken"?

Not official. I just think he looks like an extra from one of the "Plant of the Apres" movies.

How about posting your "V" pic on this thread? I'd do it but you seem to have so much fun doing it yourself :)

Bush's speech is timed to run about 40 minutes, not counting breaks for the expected applause. The first half of the address will be dedicated to domestic issues, the second to international affairs, a senior administration official has said.

Aides said Bush will tout progress made in Iraq and Afghanistan, call for continuing diplomacy in the standoffs over nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea and sound an optimistic note about the Middle East peace process.
