STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.

Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).

Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.

Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.

Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

That hug was the moment, a symbol of so many things.

It certainly was; absolutely was.

The President needs to move immediately to implement some of these items so that everyone, especially the dems, knows he means business and that this term will be different from the first one.

He sure does....he needs to do lots fast....no stalling around....talk over the Rats to the people....go to the people loudly and often!

One of his best speeches. Passionate, clear and well delivered with feeling. What more could we ask for?

Make sure she goes to the Blue Star Mothers and gets one of these for her front window.

Or better yet surprise her with one from the Blue Star Mothers site.

For the supportive words Joe Lieberman has spoken over the last few months....he deserved a big wet juicy kiss. Lord, forgive me for every mean thing I said about Lieberman....he's turned out to be a most honorable man where our national security is concerned.

That was very telling and something extra for Lieberman's moral positions. Very very kind.

I think she was not giving her son's dog tags to the Iraqi woman. Instead, I think the neck chain on the tag became caught in the buttons on the Iraqi woman's sleeve which caused them to take extra time trying to extricate the tags. Still, it was a powerful visual scene.

I heard today that Bob Scheiffer will be 'temporarily' replacing Dan Rather when he...eh...'steps down' from his anchor chair throne.

The RATS crossed the line to their Eurotwit counterparts and booed the Pres during the Social Security part.

I could've swore I heard even louder boos when President Bush demanded that the Senate give each nominee an up-or-down vote.
