The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.
Unforgettable .... moment. As for W .. he hit it outta the park !!
A stopped clock is correct twice a day. LOL
Sobbing - ten minutes later.
It came across just fine.
IOt proved the President right correct.
Then I'm glad I wasn't on the thread and have only jumped in here.
I don't want to hear naysayers. This was the president's best speech since the few he gave right after 9/11. Well delivered. Beautiful. Meaningful.
I can't keep up with this thread, partially because I was almost mesmerized by the President tonight. Cherish every moment, I don't believe we will have another like him in our lifetimes.
I am too ... Gawd I can't stop the tears
Words alone can't describe what that meant
But what the hey I had my posting privileges withdrawn for a month.
Didn't hurt much, yeah right.
You're an embarrassment to this forum, Joe.
I am with you, Chris. I don't know anyone who could keep the dream alive except Condi.
Bush has been on a roll... his speeches have been getting better and better.
I'd have to rank the 5 best speeches of the past year as:
Zell Miller's RNC address
Giuliani's RNC address
Bush's RNC acceptance speech
Bush's inaugural address
Bush's 2005 SOTU
There is no rank in the list. All of these were great speeches.
I didn;t think of that...
you;re right.. the democrats and his critics
will look petty and small and nasty and mean...
I am NOT watching the rebuttal.
NOT letting democrats ruin my night.
This magnificent night.
In that case, batter up.
You got that right, friend...it all comes from his character.
:o)
Many did. Not all, true.
I agree. Brit didn't do a good job on that.
And we're proud of you, Mike.
I'm getting a headache from crying. That Iraqi woman and the soldier's mom really got me.
It did mean victory during WWII. Then the "peace movement" hijacked it in the 1960s. This spawned the three finger counter salute, meaning "FU, we like war."
