STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Sheesh, is there any station that won't be covering her response? I can't stand listening to that woman.
Many of us disagee with the President on immigration policy. Nothing new was mentioned tonight. We've debated that at length. We will continue to do so. Let's not turn this thread into a bicker fest.
Those of you who join me in disagreeing with the President on immigration, let's be reasoned in our approach here.
Thanks.

Poor Ted Kennedy... Sean Hannity plays him trying to say his name every day! Have you heard Rush's ten minute thing on it? He has Paul Shanklin singing "osama obamba" to the tune of La Bamba. I about died. He spent ten minutes talking about it a week or so ago and interspersing some of the other babbling Kennedy has done in the past few years - e.g. the reelect Clinton speech etc... "george's bush" and all that. It has you rolling on the floor before he's done.

So, the Joint Chiefs are allowed to clap for military talking points? I think they do when he praises the troops or talks about their successes but not anything domestic related.

I'd like my payout today, plus accrued interest.

Don't ask me about the protocol for the Joint Chiefs, but methinks because they're supposed to be non-political jobs, that would seem about right.

Yeah, because he is free. No worries about re election. A second term can be either a blessing or a curse. In President Bush's case, I think it is going to be the best four years of his eight year presidency.
