From the video, the runway was cleared of snow. The tracks were beyond the end of runway.
To: Murphy63
You can still have icing on the wings even if the runways are clear.

I'm at a loss to identify exactly who gets harmed by internet speculation over the details of a news story. I agree.
I think its worse that when something happens people immediately say terrorism is nit suspected when an investigation hasn't even been done.
I thnk had there only been one plane on 9/11 that we would have been told that it had been an accident, that the pilot had a heart attack or something.

1. Yeah, this was a terrorist attack for sure, but the powers that be will cover it up just like that plane that crashed in the Rockaways.
2. Was it flown by an illegal alien?

Oops, now CNN is asking a caller if the 12 people included the crew? Caller does not know.
So, sorry, we really don't know anything for sure...

If ice lifts off the wing and is ingested into the engine, there will be FOD evidence consistent with ice ingestion.

I'm at a loss to identify exactly who gets harmed by internet speculation over the details of a news story. It's something to do. Why would anybody bother to type out their objections rather than just move on to a thread they find more to their liking? You need to stop taking the thoughts out of my head.
I'm to go on and speculate why what you describe above is so.
Way I figure, some people don't have as much imagination as others. So they're jealous of anyone else who conjures up an orginal, yea even outrageous, idea.
Due to this lack of imagination, the train of thought must be stopped, stopped immediately, before I feel even worse.
Thus I must bother to type my objections to "unwarrented", even dangerous, speculation. Instead of, you understand, sanely moving on far away from the speculating idiots. If everyone cleaves to my righteous indignation than all will be silent.
Then I won't feel so void of vision when all around me are quiet.

Thanks. I guess they can check the pre-flight records as well to see if de-icing was requested.

I've seen ice on large body commercial aircraft when the OAT is 50°F and 50%RH.
Doesn't have to be freezing or below.

General McInerney thinks that since the fuselage is intact, there may be survivors.
Fox News reporting of previous private jet crashes at Teterboro. March 8, 2001 small plane exploded at take-off and narrowly missed cars.
To: RedBloodedAmerican
That's probably on arrival, though, having been in upper air for a while.

"Plane appears to be a small private jet" The Media seems to be correct *this* time but I remember the morning of 9/11/01 they were saying a small plane hit the first WTC tower. Obviously, we know they were incorrect.

"The flaps probably got iced up and locked, preventing proper roll."
You set the flaps prior to starting your take off roll. If the flaps were stuck they would not have initiated their roll.

...or required.
Most corporate and commercial aircraft carriers have regs that state a physical check for ice is required under certain conditions before leaving the gate and sometimes again at the end of the taxiway prior to takeoff, and that it doesn't have to have falling precipitation, either. Humidity will build ice. If the pilot did the check, he would have requested de-icing. Thing is, alot of deicing is done by untrained people.
