More and more good folks are finding out about Terri and that judicial tyranny would take her life, but for lots and lots of prayer and non-stop lobbying of relatives, friends, clergy, our leaders, the media, a passerby, a cashier - ANYONE who you feel comfortable chatting with.
Folks always want to know how can this be in America or on earth for that matter? Unfortunately, this is really happening to an innocent woman who just celebrated her 41st birthday. She's not the only one but she's the one with devoted parents and siblings who knows what's in Terri's heart. Terri has a strong will to live. That's apparent. It's been 14 years.
Besides, feeding tubes have been around practically since the Civil War. They are not high tech devices. Terri is "not hooked up to machines". Her feeding tube is the diameter of a piece of spaghetti.
Talkin' about Terri is the best way to lobby for her. It is a salespitch to save her life and subsequently, many lives. If you've never sold anything in your life, START NOW. START WITH TERRI.

AGAIN WE HAVE A NEW RECORD: 15,103 views on the tote board for the Terri Schindler Schiavo January Daily Thread!
The most significant event in Terri's case in January, was the Supreme's Courts refusal to hear Governor Jeb Bush's appeal, after the Florida State Legislature struck down Terri's Law. This once again places Terri's life in extreme jeopardy, though there are other issues regarding her case before the court.
On the Greta bit:
She asked attorney Felos why Terri's situation was any different from that of Sarah Scantlin. Ms. Scantlin recently emerged from a 'minimally conscious' state and began chatting up her family and caregivers.
Felos response was because "that patient was in a coma and had rudimentary interaction and awareness."
Give that remark a think. Coma is unconscious. People who are comatose don't have rudimentary anything - at least, not during the period of coma.
But, that one just went flying on by with no grill or follow up question.
a) Felos showed that he is probably willing to say just about anything to get the public believing there is no hope for Terri Schiavo.
b) The media lets him get away with it time and time and time again.
I'm not knocking Ms. van Susteren because I have all the interview skills of a glass of milk. But, this seems to be a recurring theme in mainstream media and press - they accept the rubbish they are dealt and do little if anything to put the purveyors on the hot seat.
I think the Schindlers have been placed under tremendous scrutiny. Why not the other camp? For crying in a bucket, the AP ran a wire about the Schindler's lawyer forgetting to file a bloody piece of paper with the Department of Agriculture that resulted in a fine against their Foundation. Of course, that makes them hardened criminals but killing a disabled woman... and the media is just sort of fine with that.
So glad to see you didn't let anyone manipulate you into giving up. You've been a real asset to Terri, and you still have a big job ahead.

Same here. Always got that immediate standard answer. Nothing today. My email was very pointed today tho. Perhaps it just got the "delete". I don't know but No answer that's for sure.
If Alan Keyes is helping that is good. But I haven't been getting my information just from Free Republic. I've also emailed him. I think I got a fund raising letter where he mentioned Terri. It's been a while now. If someone mentions a cause, I expect him to do something about it. Especially, those that attract media attention much easier than us little guys.
If he shows renewed interest in this case, great! I really thought this was an ideal case for him to get involved with. And I've been very disappointed at his rather lukewarm support.
I'm also very disappointed in President Bush. This is such a no brainer case and he could use the Presidential bully pulpit to bring attention to this travesty of justice.

I have a feeling that since Alan Keyes' daughter just came out of the closet, that wouldn't be helpful for him to be standing next to Randall Terry who is against civil unions and gay marriage.

When I phoned Tom Lee and Allen Bense, they said they were getting many calls about Terri.
There is a certain irony to you demanding that no one post anything from Empire Journal on FR, and in the very next post decry limits on what FR management allows to be posted here.
But, since you are so big on unfettered expression, should I be allowed to post whatever I want on Empire Journal, even if that is against the wishes of the management there? Let's see how big your commitment to unfettered free speech is.

It would be very nasty to have to bring litgation against Free Republic for posting material without permission and I think they have already been through that.

GWB has pardon power only in federal cases. It's actually in Article II of the Constitution. He has no power to free Terri unless he can find an unconventional way -- think outside the liberal box.

Yeah, the liberal box got us Bill Clinton having INS goons sticking a gun in Elian's face the last time we had this kind of a rights battle down in Florida.
This needs to be resolved in Florida by Florida officials.
