The Republicans well remember what amounted to bloodbath when the Democrats lost the house because of the AWB. No one touched it when it expired last year.
Ok he better "splain" himself. There is no excuse for this anti-second amendment stance.
At least ashcroft put forth the proper position on individual rights within the second amendment.
"prohibition on semi-automatics"
From my cold dead hands.
I don't know about you guys, but I don't exactly trust my government enought to give up my guns.
Someone tries to take my gun...make my day.
"It's time to take President Bush to the "political woodshed" once again, GOA said in the email. "
Well said, but good luck. Gonzales is NOT fit to be attorney general. He couldn't polish Ashcroft's shoes. And there is more to him than this. He also opposes strong measures against illegal invaders.
/Gun owner
So I guess that means that if everyone used revolvers and single-shot rifles instead, the gun-ban crowd would leave us alone?
/neutronium weight sarcasm
I'm concerned about overzealous SWAT officers myself...
Gonzales got "released" from the USAF Academy prior to completing it .........anyone have info as to why he left the USAF early ?
BTTT ....
My answer is the same to Republican or Democrat:
Not you. Not mine. Not ever.
DAMN RIGHT WE ARE UPSET BUMP!!
Conversely, if you want off my ping-list, let me know.
And my apologies for any redundant pings.
The way to make this even more effective is for all of us to use the same color post cards--red, in this case. (you can pick up red cards at places like Kinko's--or make your own out of something around the house)
Your message should be short and to the point, and you must include your name and address.
Time is short--let's get these cards out today--they won't know what hit them!
Same problem in Wisconsin--one of the Pubbie candidates for Attorney General/WI is anti-CCW--that would be Paul Bucher, the current DA for Waukesha County.
He can't even argue his case on CCW coherently...
Many say that Bush announces his support of the Clinton gun ban to make it a non-issue with the Left, then sits on his hands not supporting his talk with any walk. I guess that works, but I don't like that type of lipspeak from a "principled" man. If that is the same strategy being used by Gonzo, it is sad to see this dishonest approach at staying honest to the Constitution. What needs to be done is to tell the Left that they LOST, and their agenda to dissarm good citizens has been derailed.
Why would Bush support anyone that didn't line up with his beliefs? The question then is: Does Bush support gun control?
"Certainly we don't want the violence-prone or those of criminal bent to have open access to firearms. Yet, it is the laws that we pass against some people that have a way of coming around to bite us all in the butt. The problem is that those who wish to completely ban all firearms use crime and violence as an excuse to infringe more and more on the RKBA. And even in the face of hard statistics and those stubborn things known as "facts", these tyrants-in-waiting still insist on more gun laws that do nothing about the criminal element, but merely disarm the citizenry at large."
"The recently sunsetted federal AW ban is a case in point: several studies of the ban commissioned by the DOJ in both the Clinton and Bush administrations came to the conclusion that the ban did nothing to alter firearm crime/violence; yet, there are still several bills stacked up in both Houses of Congress that would not only reinstate this ridiculous law but strengthen it, written by people who care not about the conclusions of these studies."
"These so-called representatives are nothing but pawns of their special interest money donors or they are really little dictators who have evil intent. The incoming Attorney General[Gonzales] is on record as supporting such a ban, yet the question remains, is he so out of touch with the reality of such laws (as shown by these stuides) and law enforcement that he persists in this folly through ignorance? If so, maybe he is not qualified to be AG. The bigger question is will he support the overturning of the Washington D.C. ban on guns?"
Gonzales' statements are very troubling; is he just another 'politician' playing to the voters (in this case, the Senators) by trying to stand on both sides of the fence, or is he really an adherent to the "collective" rights nonsense?
