WALLACE: Did Senator Boxer go over the line in questioning Dr. Rice's integrity?
FEINSTEIN: Oh, Chris, I'm not going to comment on that. Each one of us, you know, marches to the sound of our own drummer. And each one of us has strong feelings on various issues from time to time, and sometimes all the time.
Having said that, Senator Boxer was within her rights. I don't happen to agree. I happen to strongly support Condoleezza Rice. I don't want to see her diminished in the eyes of the world. I want to see her confirmed. She will be.
There will be discussion. That's part of our process. That's what we're there to do. And I don't begrudge anybody the opportunity to discuss it.
I will support her, and I want to see a strong secretary of state. I think she can be an amazingly positive influence for America.
WALLACE: . . .[refers to Pelosi's obstructionist memo] . . . Is that the right stance for Democrats to be taking right off the bat?
FEINSTEIN: . . . My view is this: The election is over; it's time for us to come together.
God knows we've got serious problems, abroad and domestically. And I think a majority of the American people want Republicans and Democrats to bring their viewpoints to Washington, sit down and work out solutions to serious issues.
Now, with respect to Dr. Rice, the president is entitled to his Cabinet, absent a finding of incompetence, absent a finding of moral turpitude, absence of finding of some gross, I think, irregularity. So, I am happy to see a president with a Cabinet that he wants. And clearly he wants Dr. Rice.

This is Senator Feinstein at her mature, responsible best letting Boxer know -- with these words -- what a traitorous fool Babs is.
yup..i've said on many threads here that while I totally disagree with Feinstein, I appreciate her in the fact she rarely is seem doing inane, immature **cked up stunts like Babs.....Feinstein has some decorum..........
Are you SURE this is Diane Feinstein?
Incredible!!! I'll be calling her to thank her, too!
Ack! At the same time "Princess Di" refused to condemn the nasty rabid dog behavior of Babs Boxer. Libs are all the same at the end of the day.
Smart move.
Senator Feinstein sounds like a Democrat that finally gets why they lost the White House, Senate and House.
They were all sining a different tune this morning. they must be on Prozac.
I disagree with Dianne on many issues, especially her gun control stance (although I respect her articulation of her views), but she always conducts herself in a rational well-informed manner. I also remember how tough she was on Clinton's AG nominee, Zoe Baird. She was the one who made Baird and her nomination crumble. If you can stand up to Dianne, you've got the right stuff, and she sees that in Condi. Frankly, it's just more to Condi's credit.
Yes, ma'am.
Feinstein has not changed her tune re Condoleezza Rice's nomination. She introduced Condi last week to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee before the hearings began with a statement of support. She has been consistent and I assume Graham has been, too.
Let's appreciate with a grain of salt. We don't want to fall for a "Bad Senator, Good Senator" routine like they'd love to play us for. Remember, DiFi's up for re-election before ToxicBoxic so she HAS to act more centrist and sane.
Nobody ever said Feinstein was stupid. Boxer, on the other hand, happens to be the single most stupid individual I have ever laid eyes on. Stupidity drips from the corners of her mouth, and her election to the United States Senate is one of the greatest mysteries of our time.
Of course, it WAS California who elected (and re-elected) Boxer....
She cannot outright condemn "Barbed" Boxer's twisted behavior as you or I would, but she did so in an unmistakeable and classy manner.
On that same program, later-during the panel, Juan Willaims walked off the edge of the building. Staggering during a mandatory 10 count after being bitz slapped by Bill Kristol and Fred Barness, Juan started babbling to Chris Wallace about how he thought Laura Bush looked "REALLY HOT in her white dress on Thursday, Wallace then asked Williams if he was now working for Woman's World Daily. Juan again started to reel and walked into another pummeling from Barnes concerning the US troop commitment to Iraq. Juan closed that segment with some mumbling about the "Republicans and Square Bob".
Wallace told the audience that the panel would return next week and perhaps be able to tell everybody what Juan was talking about.
I'm not sure but I think as the camera scanned the panel you could see some drool dripping from the corner of Juan's mouth.
Just another day!
Okay, just one grain. I'm not afraid of salt. ;-]
I'm taking this one issue at a time. She made the point that it is crucial how our treatment of our Secretary of State is seen on the world stage and I give her a great deal of points for that.
Not ME, Dude!!!
I know, I know....
Hey, I'm in the blue land of Governor Ed Rendell and I didn't vote for him, believe me. So we obviously have our share of scumbag parasites voting here, too.
Well, there's the stupid CA Republicans nominated Bill Jones, a candidate so lame he lost a debate to Boxer.
I agree with you. I don't agree with DiFi's positions at all (she was mayor of SF during some of my many years of living in that city, and a columnist - Herb Caen? - used to refer to her as DiFi), but she's basically an old-style Dem who was a normal human being but simply had different views on certain matters. And I think she's a bit smarter than many of the folks in her party.
