The Free Republic W2 Inaugural Ball was a wonderful, but exhausting time. I'm still wiped out. But, I know folks are waiting for pics and stories. I'll add my observations later, but I wanted to share one thing before I head back to the hotel to see 'Governor' Robinson and his family off.
We received a phone call from the White House yesterday. The Office of Presidential Scheduling called to pass along President Bush's regrets for not being able to attend our ball (we had mailed a formal invitation to him and his family.) We were told, "He hopes it went well."
As it turns out, the ball went really well after a late start.
Governor Huckabee and Capitol Offense rocked the house well past midnight. Impressionist Billy Finch did a wonderful job as Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful. Sauropod's video presentaion was stunning. The speeches by the Iraqis were very moving. WMAL's Michael Graham did a great job opening the show. Nick Danger was excellent emceeing the Eagle Awards. The St. John's College High School JROTC were magnificent presenting the colors. Richard Poe was busy all night signing copies of Hillary's Secret War. Seeking the Truth and his wife, Darlie, couldn't take a break--their 0Cents.com merchandise was very popular.
Thanks to all for their hard work making sure the ball went so well. And a special thanks to the active duty service members from Walter Reed and the Pentagon, as well as the veterans, who accepted our invitations as honored guests to the ball.
Please post your reports and photos or links here. I know alot of folks are traveling home, so check back over the next few day as folks check back in on FR.
A wonderful BTTT!
Very interesting. It must have something to do with the ports I have blocked or something.
Parade just started on CSPan..I'm enjoying the whole thing being replayed.
Still in DC and may not get out tomorrow as planned because of the snow storm.

Man! Four years from now when I have some money, I'm gonna go to the next inaugural ball, you guys know how to party :)
Oh I See...This is a better view!
What's Zone Alarm? How do I know if I have one. Disabling Norton didn't help me, unless I only *thought* I disabled it ...
Phhoop! I may just have to wait for my husband to get home!
I am too. It's just so neat to put a face with a name. And I know I had seen you on TV or something before. Maybe on a news link here at the Arlington Cemetery. Is that right?
What fun to meet you again this week. Your "spirit" is always contagious!
I hope we cross paths again when I am in the area this summer.
Then again, wouldn't it be nice to have nothing to counter-protest? LOL
I am posting right now from the Holiday Inn Express in Breezewood, PA. Got stuck in the middle of the snowstorm and didn't want to risk driving so we checked in for the night. I will be posting my pics from the parade and the ball tomorrow (hopefully).
I would love to see the pictures but I won't disable Norton.
Yes, I did not get home in time to see it, but was told that it did air on the evening news.
I have done a few interviews with a Washington Times reporter and he has used some interviews from Orlando "Freeps" too.
I have been around since almost the beginning of FR. I laughingly say just point the car up 95 and hit the cruise and it gets me here in time!
Great pics Freepers!
Thanks for the ping.
Wonderful evening!!
All these pictures are great reminders.
I have many more that can not be removed from my head!!! I only took pictures of family and the kids room !
Yes we saw him too. What's the story?
