Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. You are trying to turn this whole discussion into something it is not.
It is not about throwing stones, being better than others, living in glass houses or any of that.
It is about who is invited to entertain at a presidential event. Just because someone does not think an entertainer represents the type of entertainment people want for their young, you throw it into a whole other rhelm of Christian vs non-Christian.
So, with your view, we have no rights to speak up about our entertainment. We have no rights to disagree with any trash put before our young because that means we feel we are better than others who dwell in the gutter.
Yet, you feel you have the right to offend us and do not care what we think about it. You cast your view as proving Christians are trying to force their views, etc., which is EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING THROUGH ALL THESE ARGUMENTS.
We are both Americans, we both have the same right to speak our views.
Are you now saying that Christians must never complain about what is put up for their entertainment other than the right to walk out? Are you saying that no religious point of view must be expressed regarding any public event?
So, in effect, you agree with the ACLU. That God must be removed from every public place and, in addition, the Christians must shut the XXXXXXXX up and quit making anti-smut comments.
You are saying morality has no part in any activity and that any that attempt to retain a more decent society are merely foisting their views on others.
Well - sorry. Just get used to complaining because I do not intend to sit quietly by while Hollywood and entertainers ruin this entire society for me. My boycott list is extremely long already and it will get longer.
However, I too have rights to get the entertainers I like into events - same as you and the other smut-loving viewers do. A perfect example of the power of porn in our society. It changes society to accept immorality, debasing activities, crudity, and selfish obsession with sex as the norm. It invades every aspect of the lives of those involved and they then seek to make it the norm for their comfort level.

If some young, energetic Republicans want to have a serious party, with entertainment by KR, why should OTHER people (who won't be there) shake their finger at them and say, NO! (especially when most are adults, anyway)?

My relationship with God is my business, as is anyone else's (or lack of) and I don't shove it down anyone's throat, and resent it being done to me, particularly when they are attempting to utilized it as some litmus test for my political pursuasion.
I'm a 48 year old mother of 2 very successful adult children. I am a Kid Rock fan, and love the fact that Kid Rock stands up for our country, and respects our troops. And our troops seem to like him as well. If he's good enough for them, he's good enough for me!
I think the theme of this thread should be "hate the sin, love the sinner". That thought seems to be lost these days.
My favorite singer in the world is Hank Williams Sr. He sang about drinking, cheating, and love gone wrong. But he also sang gospel.
I love the fact that I'm a Conservative, and a Republican, and have been for as long as I can remember. I don't like the fact that some of my people have become "holier than thou".

California/Berkeley Survey may herald shift in "culture wars" over family values
SAN FRANCISCO, September 25, 2002 (LSN.ca) - A new survey of American youth
has found surprising support for school prayer, federal aid to faith-based charities, pro-life politicians and even government restriction of abortion. The findings, from the University of California/Berkeley Survey Research Center and funded by Pew Charitable Trusts, also found that youth are less likely to attend religious services or see religion as a guide to daily life.
The survey found youth to be even more liberal than adults on race and on government spending. But, "Fifty-nine percent of adults ages 27 to 59 want public schools to allow prayer at official school activities, such as commencements," says a Berkeley press release. "Among teenagers, 69 percent support school prayer. ... Government restrictions on abortion are supported by 34 percent of adults over 26, while about 44 percent of youths ages 15 to 22 support such restrictions."
The results may herald a shift in America's "culture wars" over family values, survey director Douglas Strand suggested. He said the rise of a new generation "may transform American public opinion as a whole toward becoming more conservative on abortion" -- a reminder that there is a season for everything, even liberal relativistic values.

Beside the fact this is an event planned, sponsored and funded by adults who thus have every right to make all the decisions regarding entertainment (not the kids), where did I say THEY (I presume you mean the kids) should BOW to my opinion on the matter?
