No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

It's enough for me.

Heck, I still can't understand why people who aren't interested in the Scott Peterson trial come on those threads to berate those who are.

It's moral superiority, for sure.

I know you now.

I've met your kind before.

You're some holier-than-thou high school or college kid with an inflated sense of self-importance on a crusade with your "CONVERT OR DIE" sword. You want the whole GOP to mirror the Trinity Broacasting Network or be thrown in hell.

You stand out from your peers by running down the hallways of your school by beating them over the head with a Bible when you ought to be tossed in a padded cell with a helmet strapped to your head.

So you spend your time going to internet boards like this where you enjoy the advantage of anonimity to call US liberals and self-righteously rail against us Republicans and conservatives who (gasp?) curse, drink, lust, gamble, watch porno and have sex with someone (or someONES) like it was going out of style.

All the while you're probably, deep in your sinful mind, obsessing over the hot girl (wash your damn socks) who made eye contact with you three weeks ago, but that was only because you were attracting attention trying to do street-corner conversions of stray dogs to the word of Jerry Falwell.

Get a clue, son. Your cover is blown. Go get laid or go to hell.

Fairport fan, Richard/Linda Thompson fan, Steeleye Span fan, Pentagle fan, Albion Band fan, etc.

Some of the same here -- particularly Fairport, Steeleye, and Pentangle. I tend to go more Celtic, though -- Battlefield Band, Tannahill Weavers.... or more rocked-up American covers like Boiled in Lead.

There's a female folk singer that did a series of albums that covered the works of Robert Burns. Name escapes me now but I'll have to check out the source material you listed.

You're probably thinking of Jean Redpath. Gill Bowman's Toasting the Ladies is my favorite Burns collection.

"Jenny's all weet, poor body,
Jenny's seldom dry,
She draigled all her petticoaties,
Comin' through the rye."

Heh. The Spellchecker just had a heart attack.

In any event, he was certainly outspoken about supporting the troops, ect. I think it's rude to invite someone to a party (which I have said I am not sure happened, btw) and then disinvite him when someone is offended. That's pretty rude.

OK. Let's do a "for example".

Bush invited a Republican leader to the Inauguration to give a presentation. The Washington Post posts a story that the guy is a well-known leader of a racist organization and prints quotes from the guy that would put David Duke to shame. Do you keep him on the list?

I think this decision stinks. I’m 42yr old, a ditto head, freeper, father of two, husband of one:) , and I like Kid Rock and his Music. And I don’t give a damn if some anal-retentive schmuck calls me a Lib as a result of that proclamation! Anyone that knows me (aka…only ones who's opinions matter) knows better. Have at it. If Hank Jr counts him a close friend, he can’t be all that bad. That said, I do prefer the “cleaned up” version of his CD’s.

There is nothing wrong with religion, as I am a staunch Lutheran. I am glad that the republican party has many religious people in it. I won't go as far as your claim. As far as politics goes, this was a dumb move.

It's a stretch to believe the Don Wildmons of the GOP were the sole arbiters of whether KR performed.

It's possible the WH didn't think a whole lot about it until they were "informed" on KR's background, and then reassessed their choce.Btw, the so-called "image problem" is a matter of perspective. "Populism" is overrated.

Because our parents didn't much like our music didn't mean we didn't respect their judgement. THAT'S what leadership is all about. And the GOP.

I'd prefer Toby Keith.

... just an entertainer and doesn't speak for my morals of values.

I think I heard a Democrat say something similar AFTER Whoopi's performance.

Maybe if the Kid got especially raunchy a high level administration exec could leap up on the stage and shout something about "the heart and soul of America".

I wonder if he's toured Europe?

Well, I know he doesn't hit L.A. often enough (err.. for concerts I mean).

LOL.
Good rant, but we've decided this one is NOT a guy.
At least it doesn't write like a guy.

Bush didn't want to be associated with this message. Deal with it. He doesn't want to be associated with pimping rappers.

We are conservatives, not Libertarians. You guys are just mad because you got spanked.

Or are you saying that Bush shouldn't have the RIGHT to decide who sings at his parties?

I am not a big fan (some fairly sophomoric lyrics, but what new), but Pillar would probably like a spot.

From the online Journal:
November 7, 2004 - Columbus, OH
The journal is back online. Our webmaster is back in town and I'm sure just dying to post all the info I email to him contained in many, many emails. This last week we have rocked Towson, MD; Raleigh, NC; Lexington, KY; and Louisville, KY. Thanks to all the fans and friends who came out to spend an evening with Pillar. A few highlights from this last week include- Rob and Bo going to a Eagles vs. Ravens game while we were in Philadelphia, Noah getting to spend some time with his family while in North Carolina, and Bush winning the presidential election. Our manager, Jason, was a Kerry supporter. So the day Bush was announced the winner I kindly emailed Jason and said, "Bush won, 4 more years, in your face, in your face." Jason replied by saying something about how I will have to live with it. Then I replied to Jason saying how God must have wanted Bush in office so I'm not too worried. I think we can all agree that I won that debate with Jay.
