Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. Does anyone seriously believe he'd have sung his more "infamous" lyrics at the Inaugural? For a president he himself supported and presumably understands, vis a vis such lyrics? They are condemning him for something he wouldn't do.
Plus, they completely ignore his contributions to the President's victory and hiw work supporting the troops. It's as if, to them, "rock star" AUTOMATICALLY equals "dirtbag".
Oh, and let's not forget the wave-away of the points regarding younger Republicans and their outlook, or those regarding the need to constantly INCREASE party participation and enthusiasm, rather than DECREASE it.
We go through this too often. Being seen as a bunch of stuffed shirt, tightpantied finger-waggers will be a kiss of death to the party.
Are the inaugural balls parties?
No kidding. I personally believe that there is a serious misunderstanding on their parts about what is and is not allowed in this country.
They don't seem to realize the sword they're swinging at the so-called enemies of families and traditional values cuts both ways. Tolerance and respect is not a one way street in this country, and they need to wise up to that fact. They aren't the only ones who know how to organize and get things done.
Please document the assertion that sales of Kid Rock CD's leads to more teen pregnancies and abortions.
" I think there is a pretty big difference between a typo and a person rattling off judgements about a person that they have never met."
True, but typing "no" rather than "know" isn't a typo, but incorrect usage. "kno" is a typo. Missing two letters is just plain bad.
You're right - I don't know KR. I do know that I don't like his early stuff, but I honestly don't have a problem with him performing at any inauguration concerts, so we're probably in agreement with the main topic of this thread.
And a point of clarification to the last part of my previous post--I wrote: "... respectul (I always try and keep it uppermost, as I was taught and know to be right and good,)..."
I MEANT to write "...respectful (I always try and keep it uppermost, as I was taught to know to TRY TO BE KIND and good,)..."
But I'm a sinner. I work on that.
Cainin04 is very bright (for the record,) AND is very decent. Can we get past the little mole hill? I'm sorry, I just don't get this.
JeffAtlanta: "The religious right didn't "elect GWB" - they somewhat contributed to it."
F16Juxtaposition your post vs. JeffAtlanta two posts and what emerges is the complete and purposeful distortion of your context. Why?? Because some people have their own agendae...
Of course you left out the part of my post where I said "No one is saying that the religious right didn't vote for GWB". Why did you ignore that part of my post?
The religious right DID vote for GWB, but they were not the only ones. Lots of other people (including christians) voted for GWB that do NOT consider themselves part of a the fringe religious right. How is that so hard to understand?
No one group can claim that they "elected GWB" because they are all just part of the whole.
You keep repeating this "believe your eyes" mantra without it actually making any sense. Of course valleygal saw religious right people voting for GWB - i'm sure she saw other people voting for him too (if she knows anyone who is not part of the religious right).
You guys are really dreaming if you think the religious right makes up 51% of the electorate. If that were true, Bush would have just campaigned soley on religious issues. Also, if that were true, how did Bill Clinton ever get elected? Open your eyes...
Let me ask you again...do you believe GWB would be reelected if he had pledged to raise taxes? That's not a religous issue, but it would have cost him the election.
"Can we get past the little mole hill? "
"we"? I think that cain and myself have. Not sure how you are involved?
I'm not involved. You're right and I'm sorry. I was just vouching for cain's intelligence regarding your ridicule of his spelling infraction. I apologise, Blzbba.
"I apologise, Blzbba."
Hey - no problem. My original misspelling response was only due to being called 'ignorant' out of the blue. Like I said in my last post to cain, he & I are basically in agreement of the main topic of the thread, which is should KR have been uninvited? I think he & I both would say "No - let him play". I simply don't care for KR's music, that's all.
What is the big deal? Anybody appalled by this should leave for the opera. It is politics, KR appeals to teens. KR is one of the cleaner rappers of today people need to get over themselves. It is the ones that -act- holier than thou art that scare me.
Hey if I'm not already on the holier-than-thou ping list, could you add me?
Thank you!
I agree.
Kid Rock knows what a terrorist is....
I don't understand the big clamor to ban him from performing. It is too weird.
LOL! Don't we all!
"Being seen as a bunch of stuffed shirt, tightpantied finger-waggers will be a kiss of death to the party."
Yes, it will. But don't you see? We'll die "pure" - without having ever had to suffer the not-so-tender mercies of Kid Rock and other such dirtbags!
Sometimes I think that is exactly the type of scenario certain theo-cons are aiming for.
Please add me to your list.
By who?
The types who so love to bash rock acts and singers, dictate to younger people what they "should" do, and attempt to stifle any fun or enthusiasm on their part, will inevitably drive away those up-and-coming youth who will one day replace us all. They LIKE to have a good time, they LIKE rock and hip-hop, and they resist being told what is "best" for them.
If no one except the more stodgy crowd wishes to be a part of the conservative movement, it will die with them. If they continue to behave as we have seen here, the younger set will have no incentive to look at our positions on most other issues. All they will know is that OUR SIDE was the ones to tell them they couldn't listen to their favorite musicians, and actively tried to prevent it.
We ALREADY carry that cross; why in the WORLD would we wish to add weight to it?
