No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

There are always people around who are holier than others - because each of us progresses through stages of faith at different times. I am surrounded by people I know are holier than me. Am I to shun them? They can't help that they are more geared to a life of faith than I am at my current stage. Does this mean they must shut up and have no views because it appears that they are closer to God than I am? Ridiculous. If you can't stand to hear views from people who you consider are coming across "holier than thou", you might want to look at "WHY". Can you better receive views from those less holy than you? Maybe that should tell you something.

I'm going to answer/question your post point by point:

-Please explain to me the "stages of faith". My belief is that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and he died for our sins. Period. What stage am I in?

-You say you are surrounded by people who are holier than you. How do you know that for sure? Do you have some sort of scale you're basing this on? In my opinion, only the Almighty knows.

-Please tell me where I said I could not stand to listen to people with other viewpoints.

-I don't need to ask "why" to you or anyone else on this earth. I will find out on my judgement day.

I stand by my statement that Kid Rock has a good heart, more so than most entertainers these days. He was willing to stand up for our country, and our troops. That's more than I can say for many.

I was quoting your use of the words "dirty words."

Go back and read the post and your reply to which I responded.

I posted a quote from her that is pretty clear.
She's back now. Why don't you ask her what she meant?

"These are young adults, and a sanitized Kid Rock show is no big deal."

In YOUR opinion.

It is a fact that our party claims to represent family values. Having KID ROCK entertain at a Republican event makes the party appear hypocritical to adults (and probably also to some young people) and sends a confusing message to both kids and young adults in my opinion. Apparently Republicans planning this event agreed with my opinion.

I humbly suggest you read Judge Bork's book, slouching toward Gomorrah.

While I wasn't taught to constantly, self righteously, and piously point the finger at other's, I was taught to make judgments about all kinds of matters, including people (I thank almighty God for my wonderful teachers and parents everyday) and I will continue to do so. However, only God has the ability and the power to judge someone's soul and ultimately condemn them.

This Liberal idea, that we can never pass judgment on anyone about anything is just that, and has helped to cause confusion and so many of the social ills we experience today (the gist of Bork's book).

Believe your own eyes.

Thanks, F16. I never even heard of the Constitution Party, LOL.

I have a feeling Ron Reagan would have agreed with Post 839...that the religious right DID vote for GWB. "My father didn't wear his religious beliefs on his sleeve.", a direct slam at the President.

I wonder how many votes the Constitution guys got anyway.

By stages of faith I meant our walk with God. When we accept Christ and are baptised, we are just starting and may not know anything about God's instructions.

As we go through life's experiences we may develop a stronger relationship with God and seek more and more to follow His plan. We are young and grow and develop, we are also young as Christians and grow and develop.

I remember wondering how my grandmother could be so interested in the Bible and have such a great love for God in her life. I just could not understand it. It just was not there for me.

Then I hit some really hard places in my life where I had to turn to Jesus to get through it. It was bad - but one of the blessings was that I felt Jesus was with me and helped me each day - or I could not have made it. These experiences develop love and more closeness.

I know understand my grandmother's interest in God. A lifetime spent turning to God for help strengthens the relationship. The harder the times, the more we turn to God and the relationship becomes stronger.

So - all I mean about the stages of faith is that we grow closer as we seek God in our lives.

Where I was surrounded by those holier than me......

Many at church are there every service as normal life, that is hard for me. I was a "fringer" most of my life and I'm trying to get more involved. It is hard to suddenly turn from a backrow Sunday sitter to involvement in church work, attending many services and having expectations. Yet, I heard the sermon that "you are not here to sit here on Sunday and do no more. You are to use your talents to help God - so get busy."

True - only God knows who is holier, but I see lots of them doing so much more than I ever will.

Other people's viewpoints and ask "Why"

I really don't know you so I was speaking in generalities with the viewpoints gleaned from reading the thread and answering the general points of "holier than thou" comments and the general disdain of those speaking against KR. As to ask "Why", when people are offended at other's viewpoints which they feel are HTH, maybe it is because they don't want to hear objections to something they condone. Then why? (again just replying to the general indication you presented)

You are right - we all find out on judgement day, but would seem we might question ourselves before then too.

Finally, I don't know KR and if he is as you say, I too defend him. I just object to obsenity being pushed on our young and apparently that has been somewhat of a problem.

I have a feeling Ron Reagan would have agreed with Post 839...that the religious right DID vote for GWB.

I don't believe anyone ever said the religious right didn't vote for GWB. What I and others have said is that they weren't the only ones. In fact, I believe that without the war on terrorism, Bush probably wouldn't have won.

People didn't vote for Bush because of family or religious values - they voted for him because he understands the war on terror (at least a lot better than Kerry) and for lower taxes..

Do you think Bush would have been elected if the only thing he differed with Kerry on was family and religious values? If he had campaigned on putting prayer in school and against rock and roll music, he would have gotten about 20% of the vote.

The religious right didn't "elect GWB" - they somewhat contributed to it. As far as "believing" your eyes - check out how many of the posters in this thread disagree with you and F16. Its way over half. That might not be scientific, but this is a very conservative forum so it should give you some idea.

If you want something more scientific, check out Barrone's analysis.

JeffAtlanta: "The religious right didn't "elect GWB" - they somewhat contributed to it."

Juxtaposition your post vs. JeffAtlanta two posts and what emerges is the complete and purposeful distortion of your context. Why?? Because some people have their own agendae...

So again, I beseech you me lady -- "believe your own eyes."

Yeah, I think it's a mistake to confuse conservatism with a monolithic view of how not to have a good time.

I have NEVER in all my life seen such histrionics. Our awesome, brave, honest, focused, hard-working, INTELLIGENT, grounded, DECENT, selfless, highly-trained, GOD FEARING AND LOVING, dedicated, giving, good-hearted, moralled, respectful, fearless, do-what's-right-when-no-one's-looking, humble, PROUD, HONORABLE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY (who put their lives on THE line that we and ours are FREE and protected,)ABSOLUTELY LOVE KID ROCK--*THE MAN*, his music, and him SINGING HIS music TO THEM. ONE AND ALL of our soldiers--THIS IS FACT--BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. IF YOU HAD A CLUE ABOUT OUR SOLDIERS, YOU'D KNOW THIS--and it goes FAR deeper than Kid "speaking to their *generation*. LOL. Don't take MY word for God's sake. Ask THEM, if you can find a moment to break from the absolute hysteria and petty name-calling. I have never seen such SCARY, sophomoric name-calling and HATE-spew.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE US MILITARY (great minds, souls, attitudes and hearts,) ARE ALL GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL given the parameters of the finger-pointers. It's so sad that our soldiers and those who love Kid Rock are judged as "morally deprived." It makes me want to HURL. And I could care LESS if I'm flamed all the way into next week. Got it?

Oh, and I was going to keep this out of it, as it REALLY should make no difference in ANY respect--and I value my privacy--but I feel the following may cause thought, for I am not alone in my "type" of liking of Kid Rock--so this is a thumbnail sketch of "who I am:"

I'm the proud mother of two VERY decent, very BRIGHT, FOCUSED, LOVING college students who both attend VERY tough schools and regularly make Dean's List with Honors who never say boo about it--one has to ask. They are HUMBLE, KIND, GENEROUS, RESPECTFUL, WEEKLY CHURCH-GOING, involved Catholics of whom I sincerely can't remember ever having raised their voice to me, or to their loving and dearly loved father. I talk to them daily about what's going on with them and they are always cheerful to me and never give me The Bum's Rush. They are both in VERY tough programs at school, and are very adult-like, responsible, and self-focused in their college life and in their perceived careers beyond. They have very strong work and study ethics. They are both BROKEN GLASS CONSERATIVE PUBBIES who have spread far and wide the good conservative word (just like their momma.) I am so VERY proud of the FINE YOUNG WOMAN AND MAN with which my husband and I have been SO blessed by God. I thank Him every day for my wonderful children. And as they are so loving to me and my husband, and I am as well to MY parents. I HONOR them, and they love me with all their heart. I come from an upper middle-class family whose father and many other close relatives are decorated naval fighter jet aviators. My siblings and I spent many a weekend at a naval air base when we were young because my dad was also an AWESOME Weekend Warrior--a true leader among his peers. He was in Neil Armstrong's flight squadron--a very respected squadron--good men. I had a very good upbringing--filled with love, respect, a very good education, a love of God and His great nature--much of it seen through traveling all points of His Great Earth. I was so very fortunate, and thank God and my great parents often. I pray hard like many of you, I always try to do the right and kind thing, I have strong moral beliefs, and I love My President, my country, and my fellow citizens. We are ALL different--God's intent. We are all unique. We want to be GOOD people. I LOVE to play the piano and violin, and I play SOLELY CLASSICAL music by all of the Old Masters. I love a good challenge by a difficult piece (sometimes MANY flubs,) and use Condi as my (unatainable) role model. She plays like heaven. I've been playing for eons, but am nowhere near what beutiful sounds are heard coming her brilliant and nimble, gifted mind and fingers. I love the violin, I love to PLAY the violin (not the fiddle.) Those two instruments are how I am personally musically inclined. I love to play them both. I am FAR from a liberal--I held an elected political office in a conservative area, with me being probably THE most conservative amongst my peers. It was loosely the equivilant of an Aldermanic position. I sadly had to give it up for a move from the area. I love to ski and golf a little more than play the piano. Being out in nature all day long enjoying what He made for us is how I feel close to God--I see so clearly His beauty in nature. Laugh if you will, again I could care less. OK, I'm done with my rant on not being some's "typical, stereotypical Kid Rock fan. So sue me. My son rolls his eyes that I love The Kid, and my daughter fully understands, and likes him too--although not nearly as much as I do. And BTW, my musical interests are wide and varied. I go to the opera and most gallery exhibits that come to town. I can't stand Eminen or goth types, or much heavy metal. I can, and like to laugh at myself. I am an average, well-brought up (thanks mom and dad,) educated, non-gossippy, loyal, friend-thankful, polite and respectul (I always try and keep it uppermost, as I was taught and know to be right and good,) everywoman. That's all. I don't care what anyone thinks about me one way or the other. I am ME. I am a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. And I can think for myself and the PC Patrol can keep on walking....

I can't believe where this thread has gone, either! This is nuts! I've seen KR on one of the country music award shows and he was fine. I'm tired of other people deciding what I should see, do and be exposed to. I'm not stupid. Neither are my kids.

If KR goes to one of the balls, screws up, so what? It'll be in the papers and he'll be in the doghouse for a week. Then everyone will move on. Except, of course, the SP's. They'll want to fine someone and make more rules to live by.
