No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

So, you are telling me to shut up and quit bothering you.

Only you, oh great one, are worthy of having a view. Why do you think you should decide who attends someone else's party?

Why do you feel you have the right to further your smut to our young?

So, you don't want any ol over 50 person having a view about entertainment for the younger ones. Big deal.

This is making my BP rise, just a bit, though. Taking some deep breaths. :)

...holier than thou....

There are always people around who are holier than others - because each of us progresses through stages of faith at different times. I am surrounded by people I know are holier than me. Am I to shun them? They can't help that they are more geared to a life of faith than I am at my current stage. Does this mean they must shut up and have no views because it appears that they are closer to God than I am?

Ridiculous.

If you can't stand to hear views from people who you consider are coming across "holier than thou", you might want to look at "WHY". Can you better receive views from those less holy than you? Maybe that should tell you something.

Correct.

But -

A. When I talk about judging, I am talking about the behavior where a person sits in judgement of the other, based solely on their particular view, with no regard to circumstance, basic facts, complete story, etc.

B. I almost use them both in every post, because I see a lot of both from a lot of folks who are supposed to be all about turning the other cheek and loving thy neighbor.

It's probably more accurate to simply use the casting of stones example - though I think we're splitting hairs here.

Bottom line - there's an awful lot of people here that could use a healthy dose of humility - and that even includes me from time to time.

This ping list was not about being a liberal, as SeasideSparrow is spewing, or about being minions of the devil.

It's just some folks who scratch their head at a particular form of Christian Love that doesn't seem to resemble anything that we learned in church or from our families. I know that I was always taught to be good to others, polite and respectful. I was also taught that nobody is without sin, and it's not our place or our business to judge other people. God may be a vengeful God, but his Son taught us the meaning of love and grace.

I live in a country where we're free to believe what we want. Some folks don't believe at all - but it's between them and God, and it's not my job to sit around and make holier than thou or derogatory comments about the person in question. And someone else may not subscribe to the same doctrine/denomination than me, but who am I to say which one of us is correct? I don't presume to speak for God....

A lot of others here either learned differently, or are shaming the memories of those that hoped they'd turned into nicer folks.

Now you have the serious, bring-the-group-down reasoning behind the beginning of the ping list. It's all in jest, and as (I think) exnavychick put it - the folks wigging out over it are exactly why we started this good natured list. And, true to nature - they're casting the stones, and "proclaiming their own greatness" (Thanks Poohbah!)Pride, anyone?

I think it just gives us a little hope that there are others out there who can be conservative and Christians without being horse's butts.

Good night.

"So, you are telling me to shut up and quit bothering you. "

Umm, nope. Never said any such thing.

"Only you, oh great one, are worthy of having a view..."

Umm, nope. Never said anything like that, either.

" Why do you think you should decide who attends someone else's party? "

I asked YOU, first. And I, unlike you, DO NOT think I have that right.

"Why do you feel you have the right to further your smut to our young? "

One older person's smut is a young person's favorite song. Has been since Elvis. Oh, and can the "for the CHILLLRUUUNNN!" bit, okay? It's old, and has nothing to do with the situation or the topic.

"So, you don't want any ol over 50 person having a view about entertainment for the younger ones. Big deal."

Umm, no. I've no problem with you having an opinion. It's when you try to force that opinion on others that I begin to ask questions, like the one I asked you that you didn't answer.

I think I'm just too tired for it to bother me enough to raise the BP.

I've always had a problem with people that consider opinion to be fact, when it is usually far from fact. And I see them on all types of subjects and issues.

"Young people today are becoming more conservative, but they're not becoming more prudish. Confuse the two at your peril."

You've nailed it. The vast majority of today's young Republicans have a libertarian streak a mile wide AND a mile deep. They are for less government intrustion in all aspects of life - including 'censorship' - and they like to rock out. Thank God they are taking this path, or the future of conservatism would be bleak, indeed.

It's depressing, in a way. I think, often enough, that most of these folks would be nice enough if you met them in person. It's really easy to get carried away and be less than nice on a message board.

"Dirty words" have been used in movies and music for over four decades. Even before that, they were in WIDE use in the military and in certain places (read: everywhere there wasn't recording media)."

Ewe, I had no idea. Thanks for 'splainin' it all to little 'ol naive me. Where have I bin hidin"????

So that justifies having "dirty words" at this Republican event?

"Shoot, hang out at a high school, hidden of course."

So because the kids are using such vulgarities (hidden of course) we should allow them to listen to it out in the open at an inaugural event? Let's really spice things up and supply them with alcohol, drugs and condoms (other things they use and like to hide). Let it all hang out and get it out in the open. They'll be sure to have a good time and we won't look like 'ol fuddy duddies.

BTW, I was a probation officer for ten years and had the worst section in one of the most crime ridden, politically corrupt cities in America. I walked and biked those streets countless times. There isn't much I haven't seen or heard.

You're probably right.

However, I try my best, although do not always succeed, to not be too far less than nice.

I respect this place, and try to abide by the posting rules.........
