Illegal immigrants inundate hospitals

New Jersey's escalating population of illegal immigrants is placing an ever-growing burden on the state's hospitals, which expect to lose $200 million this year on care to the underground community.

Doctors and administrators around the state are complaining that the cost of treating illegal immigrants has forced them to delay the purchase of life-saving technology or the addition of valuble staff.

And according to the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) in West Windsor, the burden will only increase unless state or federal agencies step in and pay the bills.

'snip'

Given the uncertainty about how many immigrants live in the country illegally, no one can say exactly how much they cost the nations hospitals.

However, given that New Jersey's illegal aliens cost hospitals an estimated $200 million, the many millions of illegal aliens across the nation surely cost several billion dollars per year. The hospitals in just one city, Los Angeles, report that they lose $350 million a year on illegal immigrants.

Well, we can thank the federal government for this.

But hey, they're not without compassion in DC. The recently -passed Medicare bill authorized reimbursement for 20% of the costs.

Why does "Guest Leeches" just sound so more honest than "Guest Workers"?

When we complained way back here in the west we were called xenophobic bigots and racists. We were told that there was no way that the impact of a bunch of illegals could be that much. Couldn't we just all try to get along? They're just here looking for a job.

Well NJ welcome to our club.

The only realistic solution is to slam the border door shut and round up all the trespassers and toss them out!

Time to come up with your own version of Arizona's Prop 200 until then.

NJ is 1. Run by the most corrupt polticians in the nation and 2. does not have the ballot initiative process.

New Jersey's escalating population of illegal immigrants is placing an ever-growing burden on the state's hospitals, which expect to lose $200 million this year on care to the underground community.

Let the hospitals bill the state of New Jersey for reimbursement, and if the state refuses to pay then shut the hospitals down.

If the majority of people in New Jersey don't want to ban illegal immigrants from their state then let them pay higher taxes to care for them.

There are a lot of legal immigrants who have their healthcare paid for by the state (you and I). That's wrong. The costs mentioned in the above article will also eventually be passed along to the American taxpayer.

And the anger about this issue builds.

It is also interesting to read articles about what is happening in Europe, which is far worse off.

The politicians still do not "get it", except for Tancredo. But there is going to be a huge popular uprising against this issue and they are going to get caught unprepared.

The following article and others go on to say there is estimated by Bear Stearns to be now 20 million illegals in this country.

Going Underground - Barron's
The shadow economy is about to top $1 trillion -- at a great cost to many

By JIM MCTAGUE

AMERICA HAS TWO ECONOMIES, and one is flourishing at the expense of the
other. First, there's the legitimate economy, in which craftsmen are
licensed and employers and employees pay taxes. Then there's the
fast-growing underground economy, where millions of nannies, construction
workers and others are paid off-the-books, their incomes largely untaxed.
The best guess as to the size of the output of this shadow economy is about
$970 billion, or nearly 9% that of the real economy. It should soon pass $1
trillion.

What is largely fueling the underground economy, experts say, is the
nation's swelling ranks of low-wage illegal immigrants. -snip-very long.
