Trespassing cows: Lonely cowboy UN victim

In the old days of the Wild West, there was always a gunslinger around to spring cowboys from jail cells.
Like the rangy sheriff from High Noon, Luther Wallace "Wally" Klump was on his own with the odds stacked cornstalk high against him.
Klump, sent to the slammer April 21, 2003 celebrated his 70th birthday there.
There was no sweet chorus of Happy Birthday sung by his grandchildren but only the convicts, some of whom took refuge in the Good Book when Klump found himself in their midst. The injustice of it was never lost on the convicts who presented the cattle rancher with a birthday card declaring, the "BLM sucks!"
BLM is the acronym for Klumps nemesis, the Bureau of Land Management.
While the convicts were incarcerated for crimes like murder etc., Wally Klumps crime was "trespassing cows" on Bureau of Land Management in Arizonas Dos Cabezos Mountains. Or as federal Judge John M. Roll put it, "for failing to follow the courts order prohibiting the unauthorized grazing of cattle on government allotments."
There are no printed manuals to teach cows what land is government or private, or edicts that not all grass is approved cow cud.
Huge tracts of land everywhere are being lapped up by the United Nations. . . . .

I found that curious, too.
By "kid" I include many twenty-somethings, not to doubt the creativeness of teens. Then again, I'm not ready to rule out the bad guys either, just that I'm inclined to see these as pranks and copycats at this stage.

Though the official said there is no evidence of a plot or terrorist activity, pilots are troubled by the incidents. The FBI earlier this month warned of the possibility that terrorists might use the devices as weapons.
Its not some kid, said Paul Rancatore, a pilot who serves as deputy chairman of the security committee for the Allied Pilots Association. Its too organized.
More recently, some pilots have pushed to analyze the possible dangers posed by terrorists trying to cause an accident with the devices.
Its a low-tech way to cause crashes, Rancatore said.
On Christmas night, two SkyWest pilots said they saw two laser-like rays of light in their cockpit as they attempted to land at the airport in Medford, Ore.
On Monday, a laser beam was directed into the cockpit of a commercial jet flying about 15 miles from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport at an altitude of between 8,500 and 10,000 feet, the FBI said. It was determined the laser came from a residential area in suburban Warrensville Heights.
Also on Monday in Colorado Springs, two pilots reported green pulsating laser lights beamed into their cockpits. Police sent patrol cars and a helicopter in a fruitless search.
In New Jersey, the pilot of a corporate-owned Cessna Citation carrying 13 people said three green lasers were pointed into his cockpit while approaching the Teterboro airport on Wednesday night. Law enforcement officials said they were believed to have originated near a mall in Wayne.
All the planes landed safely.

OPINION: Take off your tinfoil; I have a feeling other people are wondering the same thing.
Whew ... I thought it was just me. :-)

"FBI Probing Laser Directed Into Jet's Cockpit"
Thursday, December 30, 2004
AP
WASHINGTON -
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute has a database of several hundred reports in which civilian or military aircraft were illuminated by lasers. Though there have been no accidents reported, pilots in some cases were startled, temporarily blinded and disoriented.
The Food and Drug Administration, which regulates laser light shows, consults with the FAA when someone proposes operating a laser outdoors near an airport. The FAA recommends the maximum safe level of laser light exposure for pilots maneuvering near airports.
An FAA-commissioned study released in June concluded that "a laser attack could be quickly deployed and withdrawn, leaving no obvious collateral damage or projectile residue, and would be difficult to detect and defend against."
"A sufficiently powerful laser could cause permanent ocular damage, blinding crewmembers and make a successful landing virtually impossible," the report said.
More recently, some pilots have pushed to analyze the possible dangers posed by terrorists trying to cause an accident with the devices."
Wonder why they don't employ eye protection for pilots?

Several HUNDRED? YIKES! I would like to see the geographic breakdown for these incidents.
"This Tsunami is kinda like Bam"
Well, if this quake was a product of a Tesla toy, I certainly hope it's in the hands of our friends and not our foes.
Given the location on the "Ring of Fire" I think it was a natural disaster.
I thought I had read an article indicating pilots are/are going to/are encouraged to protect their eyes/vision while flying.
From the watchboard at intelcenter.com:
"- UK FCO on 15 Dec.: "We believe that there is a heightened risk of
attacks in the lead up to and during this Christmas/New Year period.
These could occur at any time, anywhere in Indonesia and could be
directed against locations frequented by foreigners."
- Australia and Japan issue warnings on 15 Dec. over threat to a
foreign hotel in Indonesia, hotel identified as Hilton Hotel in
Jakarta. The Australian DFAT said, "We have received credible new
information suggesting terrorists are ready to carry out an attack
shortly in Indonesia, possibly targeting a Hilton hotel. Other targets
cannot be ruled out."
Do you recall the concern about the Japanese terrorist cult Shrim Aumi having a tesla toy?

WASHINGTON The FBI, concerned that terrorists could use lasers as weapons, is investigating why laser beams were directed into the cockpits of seven airplanes in flight since Christmas.
Laser beams can temporarily blind or disorient pilots and possibly cause a plane to crash.
