Thanks, Marty. Some years from now, when it happens that you remember that awful day -- remember too that the cares of all of us are with you. Just like your cares with with the girl, and the Battalion Commander's care was with you.

You can't always be in the physical company of friends, but their spirit and memory is there for you to find.

Army. I am a rifle platoon leader with the 1st Battalion 5th Infantry regiment 25 ID. Stryker Brigade Combat Team

Thank you for your service.

Is your name "Marty Wake"? Was wondering if we can send a Christmas card via the military to you.

The leftist and the peaceniks and the cowards and the appeasers in our country will never understand the struggle that we face hear.

Of course they won't; it's not in their character, or lack thereof. With that said, you've got your hands full fighting our foreign enemies and placing yourself in harm's way every day. May Godspeed you and your fellow warriors in that effort.

It's up to us here at home to take care of the domestic enemies. Should we be any less diligent in our efforts here. God forbid! You and you're buddies are putting your lives on the line for us; the very least we can do is kick the bastard's asses here at home. You should expect no less from us.

God bless you and Merry Christmas soldier.

*** Arab, helped Kurd who helped Turk who helped American. Civilian and Military alike worked alongside like brother and sister, unconcerned for their own safety. This is the racial unity that the left is always crying aobut but can never grasp***

Marty, that's beautiful writing. Please keep writing in your journal and let us hear from you when you have the time.

The above passage is going to be sent to our local radio show hosts in the hopes that one of them will read it on the radio. It sums up the difference between America-loving people and the liberal/socialists.

My prayers go up for you daily. Thank you for giving me and my family Christmas again this year. Bless you and your comrades in arms.

MO1, thanks for the ping. I wouldn't have wanted to miss this beautiful letter.

My son is stationed at Fort Bliss right now so he is "safe". For this I am very grateful--but every time I hear of the loss of one of our troops I realize it could very well be my son--but for the Grace of God. And because it's God's grace that I even have my son, I don't think I could begrudge Him His will if even the worst were to happen to him, because I really trust that He knows what He's doing (even though I am way too human to not wonder why when tragedies like this suicide bombing have to happen right at Christmas!)

What you wrote about the bravery and compassion of the Iraqi soldier who treated your wounds helps give all of us here at FR a proper perspective. Your battles might be daily against "bad guys"--but the real war is against an Enemy which does not want Truth to set anyone free! And your words--sir--are a Light shining in the midst of a great darkness. Thank you for not allowing bitterness or hatred to cloud that light, and for shining it here with us at Free Republic.

God bless you, sir, and all who serve with you--including the "gruff one"--and your Iraqi "nurse".

Physicist, that's so well said I had to repeat it.

Thank you for your service. Get well. I'll pray for you and all your brothers and sisters in Iraq. Have a blessed Christmas.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Thank you for your service to our country. I am amazed at how what is best in people often comes out in the worst of times. I once heard a preacher years ago say that, "tragedy and hardship, is the furnace that God uses to refine the gold in the human soul." Your letter gave me hope for the future.
