A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

"I'll Be Home For Christmas"
I'll be home for Christmas; You can count on me. Please have snow and mistletoe And presents on the tree.
There may not be snow in Houston, but bet there are lots of happy faces there this Christmas, and I'm bettin' mistletoe won't even be needed. :)
Allegra, one of our own since February 25, 2001, has been in Iraq for almost a year and is home for her first R & R just in time for Christmas. We love bringing good news to the Finest about our troops and hope you'll join us today to give her a big, rousing, Welcome Home Surprise!
Thank you, Allegra, for your service to our country, and hope you get a chance to eat lots of Mexican food, drink plenty of cold beer, and get lots of lovin' from those kitties before you return to Baghdad next month. May God bless and keep you safe.

Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Do you do turkey and dressing for Christmas dinner? No, only at Thanksgiving. We had a honeybaked ham with potato salad, mac and cheese, sweet potato souffle, cream corn, and my mom made a delicious bread pudding that had bourbon in the icing that was out of this world. Also had pecan pie and other assorted desserts.
It was alot of work and am glad to have it behind me.
Saw earlier where you'll be getting out the fine china. Whenever I have more than 8 people over to eat, everyone gets served with throwaway plastic cups and plates. I do use the Christmasy looking ones. :)

Welcome home to you, too, Cheney Chick! Thank you for your service to our great country.
Mike, if you haven't escaped by mid-January, we can hook up at BK at Liberty. I'll keep you posted. Your time is getting short now. WOOOOHOOOOOO!!

I usually save the kitty with Christmas lights for here. It reminds me ot Louie's Christmas Story too.
Our troops need lots of prayers today.
Please, Father, Bless and Protect them. Please comfort the families of those who were lost today.
Hold them and the families of all our military in your loving embrace. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Good morning! Really, really glad to see you already! You must be exhausted with the time change and travel.
And my heart and prayers go out to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in Mosul this morning. I am waiting to hear from those I know there...
Please let us know - any loss is sad and heartbreaking, but especially so if it's someone you've gotten to know and been close to.
Enjoy your time at home, Allegra, and thank you.

Also had pecan pie and other assorted desserts. It was alot of work and am glad to have it behind me. Yummmm! Sounds good, and it's making me hungry - it IS almost lunch time! LOL. I'm not usually one to go for bread pudding, but maybe that bourbon icing would make me a believer. :) Saw earlier where you'll be getting out the fine china. Whenever I have more than 8 people over to eat, everyone gets served with throwaway plastic cups and plates. I do use the Christmasy looking ones. :)
Christmas is one of the few times we've always "gotten out the good stuff" - we even put on our good clothes instead of jeans. :) My dining table only seats 10 comfortably, and sometimes we overflow into the family room, but still it's fun to do a pretty table in there, too.
