Two parents, shocked at frank talk during a gay and lesbian awareness day at Newton North High, were forced off the property after one parent whipped out a video camera and started taping.
``This does not belong in curriculum,'' said Kim Cariani, who said four police officers and the principal told them they would be charged with trespassing if they did not leave.
``It's against my religion. It's morally wrong and forced in a child's face.''
Each year, some students at Newton North forgo classes during To BGLAD: Transgender, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Awareness Day with assembly-like sessions including ``Out at the Old Ballgame'' and ``Color Me Queer.'' Students are not required to attend.
Cariani kept her two kids home during the day, but she was curious.
Cariani and another parent, Brian Camenker, were in the audience when adults in a panel discussion talked about being gay. When one man told the students he was attracted to his sister's husband, Cariani said she started to record the ``propaganda, false information and lies.''
The principal demanded Cariani turn over the videotape or leave, Camenker said.
``They took the two of us and pulled us out and gave us one minute to leave and if we came back on the property we would be arrested for trespassing,'' he said.
Tom Mountain, a columnist for the Newton Tab, was also barred from the assembly ``for the safety and security of the children,'' he said he was told.
Newton schools Superintendent Jeff Young said it is a violation of school policy to tape or photograph students without parental permission. Cariani refused to give up the tape, so they were asked to decamp, he said.
The awareness day, held for the past 10 years, is one of several ways the schools highlight diversity, Young said. Students who don't want to go can go to the library or computer lab.
Here here Kimmie7 we are homeschooling our kids and we live in one of the best school dist. in cal.
This is a sickness that will continue to spread as long as there are secularists running the country and school boards.
I'm not surprised you defend the teaching of perversion to school children without the ability of parents to record what is happening on taxpayer paid public property.
How did you feel about "Fistgate" at Tufts, where middle schoolers were told how to properly lubricate for anal sex and anal "fisting?"
Very similar situation.
It is of Babylon this plague - get ye out of her my people!
Doesn't anybody actually read the articles anymore? She wasn't taping the students.
yeah... but her tax dollars were there.
Maybe because she pays taxes to the local school district? Why shouldn't any of us have a say in the educational(sic)process?
>>I'd like to know exactly how many kids were in attendance, though.<<
Let me ask you a question: Given a choice between an assembly or regular class attendance, which would you have chosen when in high school?
"So let me understand your position. It sounds to me like because this was voluntary there is no victim here....
Okay what if the schools held siminars on Russian roulet? Voluntary of course."
Here's the deal: I don't know what the content of this thing was. It's not explained in the article. I don't know how many kids attended, either. There are homosexual teenagers. There are problems between these kids and some of the other kids at schools. That I'm sure of. This is supposed to be some sort of exercise in teaching tolerance.
Without having been at the thing, I have no idea of the content of the discussions.
This mother, who actually pulled her kids out of school that day, even though they wouldn't have been required to attend these events, was able to attend. It was when she began to videotape that she was told to stop. Frankly, I wouldn't want some random parent videotaping my kids, either, whatever the situation.
She could have stayed and seen what went on during the sessions. Since she is opposed to the whole thing, I'd imagine that would have been a good idea for her to stay.
So, essentially, I don't have enough information here.
Homosexual Agenda Ping.
It's getting hot and heavy. Threatened with arrest for taping the homo-propaganda being forcefed to kids?
And don't give me any backtalk about kids being able to "opt out". I've read what the homosexual promoters say and do about that. Make sure the "opt out" forms don't make it to parents in time, make sure that no graphics stuff is shown to parents, "lose" forms, make sure it is difficult for parents to get involved or know what is going on. And even if some kids opt out, they're attending school with a whole bunch who don't, whose parents either don't know what's going on or don't care.
Can anyone imagine this stuff happening 20 years ago? Parents threatened with arrest for taping what's going in IN SCHOOL?
Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.
Easy. He taught them all about the beauty of ass love.
</sarcasm>
'Let me ask you a question: Given a choice between an assembly or regular class attendance, which would you have chosen when in high school?
"
Me? I'd have stayed in class or have gone to the library, if those were my options. I had no interest in homosexuality then, and I don't now. I know there are people who are homosexuals, and that's there problem, not mine. There were kids in my high school who were homosexuals, even back in the early 60s when I attended. They didn't interest me, nor did their activities.
So, yes, I would have stayed in class or gone to the library.
So would you object to parents video-taping the school play or holiday chorus?
Gee, I don't remembering signing consent forums when people were filming assembly meetings during school hours when I was in school.
"So would you object to parents video-taping the school play or holiday chorus?"
Not the same thing.
This is the kind of assembly in which they teach children how to protect themselves from feces (among other things) while "exploring their sexuality".
Bravo to this Mother!
