Mom ousted for taping gay acceptance `lies' (Forced off property at High School Gay Awareness Day)

Two parents, shocked at frank talk during a gay and lesbian awareness day at Newton North High, were forced off the property after one parent whipped out a video camera and started taping.

``This does not belong in curriculum,'' said Kim Cariani, who said four police officers and the principal told them they would be charged with trespassing if they did not leave.

``It's against my religion. It's morally wrong and forced in a child's face.''

Each year, some students at Newton North forgo classes during To BGLAD: Transgender, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Awareness Day with assembly-like sessions including ``Out at the Old Ballgame'' and ``Color Me Queer.'' Students are not required to attend.

Cariani kept her two kids home during the day, but she was curious.

Cariani and another parent, Brian Camenker, were in the audience when adults in a panel discussion talked about being gay. When one man told the students he was attracted to his sister's husband, Cariani said she started to record the ``propaganda, false information and lies.''

The principal demanded Cariani turn over the videotape or leave, Camenker said.

``They took the two of us and pulled us out and gave us one minute to leave and if we came back on the property we would be arrested for trespassing,'' he said.

Tom Mountain, a columnist for the Newton Tab, was also barred from the assembly ``for the safety and security of the children,'' he said he was told.

Newton schools Superintendent Jeff Young said it is a violation of school policy to tape or photograph students without parental permission. Cariani refused to give up the tape, so they were asked to decamp, he said.

The awareness day, held for the past 10 years, is one of several ways the schools highlight diversity, Young said. Students who don't want to go can go to the library or computer lab.

No you can't judge. Hopefully the bill which states schools instate an "opt in" policy, will go thru. It also calls for parents reviewing ANY AND ALL materials beforehand. These folks hand out kits, containing safe sex aids, and even bandages for when sex gets rough. Very graphic diagrams too and in some cases movies that, were they about heterosexuals would be rated X and called porn!

This is very common among the different tactics used to indoctinate the kids.

Exactly why this is posted here, I would assume. How many parents even know around the country? Look how many here are shocked. The word needs getting out.

Although its tone is sometimes too harsh and its generalizations too sweeping, AFTER THE BALL remains a prescient landmark in the American gay rights movement. The book recast the debate about effective tactics among gay activists, and laid the foundation stone for organizations such as GLAAD. The book's logic for gays is compelling, if uncomfortable: either face the unvarnished realities of American bigotry, and attack them aggressively at their psychological roots, or else fail to win a secure place in society. Ever since it made waves inside and outside the gay community, this polemic has been condemned by both the gay left wing and the religious right wing -- so it must be doing something right for the rest of us.

Since time out of mind, gays have been the hapless victims of the hateful propaganda of a society almost uniformly arrayed against them. This 1989 book suggested ways in which the gay community could (a) organize itself and (b) throw those very propaganda techniques -- lies, if you will -- back in homohaters' faces. In 1999, the gay commmunity is doing just that. Naturally, the religious and political right are enraged. A work of fundamental -- tho' easily missed -- sociohistorical significance.

As a summary of methods to manipulate and control opinion, this book is an example of how to achieve a goal (public opinion modification), without recourse to fact, reason, or fair play. A propagandists dream, it is best summed up in two of its own quotes "Thus propagandistic advertising can depict all opponents of the gay movement as homophobic bigots who are 'not Christian' and the propoganda can further show them as being criticized, hated and shunned}".... "Our effect is achieved without reference to facts, logic or proof.... the person's beliefs can be altered whether he is conscious of the attack or not" (p. 152-153) Answers questions as to how a group of less then 2% of the population, can attain political and media clout completely out of proportion to their size or condition

I agree. It seems that most of the atheists and evolutionists here are at FR pro-Gay, anti-God, and anti-Christmas. It's not a big surprise to many of us. Also, most of them don't have children, so they can't relate to stuff like this.

The book is out of print. I've never seen a copy of it anywhere.

The book is available. I purchased a new copy last year, and there are more available here and here and other places.

Before he was banned, freeper tdadams would deny the information contained in the book. So with book in hand I asked him what page he would like scanned in - he refused to provide a page number. The book is indeed a how-to for pushing the homosexual agenda.

This mother is forced to pay taxes to subsidize the schools functions, including teaching homosexual and bisexual world views. She is being forced under penalty of forfeiture of her private property (for not paying school taxes). Not to mention the underwriting of and propagating perverse and objectionable material which will, in some way, filter down to affect her children. She not only has the right, but the responsibility to expose the degredation and permissive school administration for what they are doing. America, you better wake up and take back your country...one school at at time, one hamlet at a time, one county at at time, one city at a time, one state at a time. So far we are loosing when we hire school administrators who see the removal of this woman as the way to deal with the problem he/she perceives. In other words , to heck with the mom, because the homosexuals will become more trouble than parents trying to propose some modicum of decency for their kids.
