Where would the Macintosh user interface be without Xerox?

Sure, but I was talking more along the lines of continued competition. And again one of the biggest draws to the Mac is the consistent UI. And that is 100% a product of Apple and its human interface guides.

The answer to all of your "why"s is: Because Apple likes to make loads and loads of money. Which they have done longer than almost any computer company around today.

Does Ford make the Focus perform more poorly than a typical Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG because they hate their customers or covet mediocrity. No, they make the Focus the way they do to try to make tons and tons of cash. You see The Mac is like the economy car while a PC is more of a Mercedes Benz. (I have no idea where I'm going with this analogy, it's humor... come on!)

Of course all those stinking rich Apple execs past and present could be wrong and should of followed your advice.

Many mac users and PC users need to realize why Apple does the things they do. Not because the company wuvs its <hugs>users</hugs> and wants them to have the best gosh-gee-wilikers stuff in the world. And not because they're stupid hippies and don't know any better. They do it for the money.

I used to buy Mac stuff from SmallDog all the time until I found out that they were huge Dean supporters - they used to have a whole Dean page on smalldog.com, and a proud listing of how much people on staff had given to his campaign.

Damn stragiht. Recall that the first digital recording devices for the music industry used VHS and Beta. Tascam's DA88 was more expensive, but it was superior in quality to Alesis' ADAT.

I love my Mac...in spite of Steve Jobs.

Well, say what you wish. But consider:

For 17 years, I have been using a Macintosh - since 1987. During that time...
- I have never had the computer become infected from a virus. NOT ONE.
- I have never had a problem with a trojan. NOT ONE.
- I have never been bothered by adware. What is it, by the way?{g}
- No spyware, either. NOTHING.
- I don't even USE any virus protection software any more. Why bother?

Well, perhaps someday I'll have a problem. We'll see.

In the meantime, I'm just waiting... and waiting..... and waiting......

Cheers!
- John

Very true, they sure are. But Steve Balmer (sp?) endorsed Bush in 04. When it comes to computer companies most tend to lean left in terms of political donations. HP's CEO is a huge republican but her company donates to democrats mostly. And I never said they were bad. Tad loony sure but bad, no. That one girl in particular comes to mind.
As for buying American cars that is your choice, you can drive a soapbox car for all I care.

#2 What are the specs? IE processor speed,Memory,Hard drive size?

Low end: 1.6 GHz 64 bit (about the equivalent of a 3GHz PC) , comes with 256Megs, 80 G HD.

#3How upgradeable are they? Those computer in the monitor things look cool but can you increase the RAM,Hard drive size etc?

Very. Ram can be increased to 2G on the iMac... 8G on the desktop G5, HD? What size can you buy? As long as it is Serial ATA.

For the rest, Question has it right.

This "article" is nothing more than blatant advertising. Violates FR posting rules. Stop posting excerpts from Apple's website.

Nothing is for sale, Bush. It is an announcement of the latest upgrade... it's free.

Every Mac OSX user on Freerepublic will appreciate the information.

Throw your crappy HP printer away and buy a decent printer and that won't happen. Try a Brother or Canon printer.

Has that ever really worked for you?

Actually, it did once... for about 15 minutes. The Admin Moderator reconsidered and restored the thread.

Bushie thinks that he can act like a liberal and shut down discussions he can't win with facts.

I use a Lexmark. FYI HP has been OEMing Canon printers for the last 20 years.

I don't post advertising -- nor "articles" that purport to be news but are actually thinly-veiled marketing brochures.

Exactly what is being "marketed", Bush? It is an announcement of a FREE download for all OSX.3 owners. This download enhances security and fuctionality of their computers.

Since you don't want to see this information, simply request that I remove you from the Mac Ping list. YOU requested to be included... but you did so that you can come to every Mac thread and throw rocks. If you continue this, I may remove you anyway. As it stands, you are still a member.

As a Mac user here's my analogy: Attacking Macs would be like a terrorist setting off a bomb in Nebraska. Could happen, but what's the practicality of it?

It's not who makes the hardware, it's who does the service. Everything from HP is crap. It's a shame because it used to be a all good. Some accountant figured out you could save half a cent by putting cheaper parts in and not writing good software. It's all PC junk now (PC = Politically Correct).

You could have said Oklahoma but that would have been a insensitive.

People that get virus's on their computers are given a valuable lesson about how stupid they are. Buy an anti-virus for $20 bucks and leave it alone and you won't have problems. Don't click on stupid things on the Internet. Pay for the software that you normally steal so when your computer breaks, you can put it back. Do back-ups.

It's all in the manual and it really is that simple.

Oh, and if you are not sure, put gas in your car as well.
