This happens quite a bit during the winter season. Cats seek warmth and security. The under-hood area of cars provide both. We'll hear more of these stories.
The second good kitty story in 2 days. Cool
I wonder if the husband or wife gave it the name.
I know, I'm so juvenile. But I just can't resist pointing out the end of the last paragraph:
"Pussy" was soon back to normal after a few minutes of petting.
Must ... not ... comment ... must ... be ... strong ...
PING
One morning several years ago, my husband woke up to the sounds of a girl screaming. He ran outside to find that his neighbor's teenage daughter had turned her car on without knowing that her cat was under the hood. He said that the girl was hysterical and that the cat wasn't in very good shape either.
After the couple noticed noise from underneath:
Elisabeth: "Look Dieter, einen Pussy!"
Dieter: "Ja, Elsa, und hier ist mein Spearstucker!"
Yep. Always bang on the hood, honk the horn, make a lot of racket before starting up.
I had a similar experience but the outcome was totally different. What a mess.
A cat got stuck behind the engine block of a lady's car here in Dallas. We could not get him out. Dallas firefighters spend about 90 minutes trying to pry him loose. They finally used the giant airbag to lift the car and grabbed him from underneath. It was not injured at all. Someone took the cat home, but unfortunately it was wild and he had to let it go.
My mom recently had her van's power steering belt malfunction. The mechanic informed her it was covered in cat fur. Nuff said!
Serious question: can a six-week-old kitten survive without its mother? That's extremely young and probably not weaned.
"Boy doesn't this engine really purr?"
Eddie: Fried pussycat!
Kitty ping.
Hey, the kitten passed the Viking Kittie inintiation challenge. Let's UPS him a helmet pronto! ^_^
Oh man does this bring back a bad memory for me! A good friend gave me two kittens this summer and later that day I drove into town. On the way I heard this "thump" and in the rear view mirror I saw one of the kittens in the road and I pulled over to try to get it. Too late! He ran into the brush and I couldn't coax him back. Went to the store and came back home and found the other kitten hanging onto the wheel well pretty thrashed up! I felt really bad, they didn't even last one day at my house.
I never told my friend what happened. Someone else gave me another kitten and when my friend came over she commented on how different the kitten looked now that it had grown up!
I just nodded and agreed that he did look different.
